Adobe Flash Player 11.3.300.262

»www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/ says it is only for "Firefox, Mozilla, Netscape, Opera (and other plugin-based browsers)". I am confused.

It's because many users, including myself, are having major problems with Flash 11.3 crashing Firefox 13.0 +. Until now my Firefox would freeze constantly with Flash 11.3 unless I turned off protected mode. This new version of Flash now works on my PC with protected mode turned on.

Here we go again ... but if it resolves some of the latest issues ... .

Looks like Windows only.

Interesting. I will have to check for Linux and Mac OS X. I have no idea what versions they have.

Sure if I had GUI access since I am not at the computer. I found out that they have newer builds so I downloaded and compared to my old local installers.

Not everyone had issues with Flash 11.3, but enough people did. My Win 7 Pro x64 desktop did not work till now, my Win 7 Pro laptop had no issues with 11.3 but I updated it also. My desktop has an Nvidia GPU and my laptop ATI.

My son's Win 7 starter netbook also had issues with Flash 11.3 and Firefox. Also none of my XP PC's had any issues with 11.3.

Weren't these issues with 64 bit OS only due to the protected mode now included with Flash? I don't think protected mode runs on XP. Does it run under vista/win7 32 bit?

Aha! That explains why Flash crashed in FF 13 on me today. I went to »www.officedepot.com and clicked on the "This Week's Ad" icon and FF had a seizure for a while, then the "Sorry, Flash has crashed" message popped up. I'll see if the new version fixes that.

The update fixed it. I also didn't have to restart FF!?!? Flash updates used to always require I shutdown FF before they would install.

No update for Mac OS X as of yet, either for Safari or a new version of Chrome. This has been the worst Flash version I ever had on my Mac. Constant problems with Chrome.

I downloaded IE installer, but it was the same from 6/1/2012. I guess it is really only for Firefox. I think FreeCode messed up.

From the original thread in another forum.

quote:
Fixed Issues:
Users experience crashes while viewing Flash content in Firefox on Windows(3211153)

In short, the update only applies to browsers that use a plug-in (vs ActiveX for IE).

Doesn't seem to fix the audio sync issues when playing flash full screen nor does it seem to have fixed the severely degraded performance of flash videos. Turning off hardware acceleration makes no difference. Went back to 10.3.183.20 (Fully security patched) and no issues.
