 | Get an HTPC If all ad-supported TV dies, would it really be the end of the world? AMC and FX are really 2 of the only channels providing anything worthwhile, and the programming they're doing is more reminiscent of what you'll find on the premium channels.
Let's be honest, network TV is pure garbage. Having technology make your business model obsolete is not illegal. It's a desperate attempt at corporate protectionism.
With all these attempts to cripple DVR STB's provided by the companies and the exorbitant fees associated with them, it really attests to the stupidity of the sheeple.
The Ceton Q could be a gamechanger that destroys that additional fee set for big cable once and for all. I can't wait until it comes out, I'll be getting one for sure. |

 | I have a Hauppauge cable card tuner it works great and is low cost. |
|
 | I've looked at the Hauppauge before, and considered buying one. I liked the lower cost, and didn't see any need for more than 2 tuners myself. My problem is that it's incapable of handling analog signals, and unfortunately here there's a lot of channels that we don't receive the HD versions of, so I wouldn't have access to them at all. And I would have had to build a unit specifically for it.
I was considering it for Christmas, right before we got AMC HD, Comedy Central HD and Cartoon Network HD here. Did I mention we're a little behind? Now I'm just waiting for the Q, because it's baseball season anyway, and that takes up enough time to keep me from watching much else. |

 | Everything is digital here so it's not a problem for me. |

 | reply to dvd536 The guide comes through Windows Media Center.
SDV cable companies have tuning adapters. Problem solved.
No PPV? No problem. No On Demand either, but if your cable company is like mine, there's next to nothing in that anyway. |

 | reply to jchambers28 I have HD HomeRun Prime with WMC7 and it's works great with TWC. DVRs are very limited in comparison anyway and they charge more now yet limit features. |

| I've got an HD HomeRun Prime with WMC7 on 3 wireless HTPC's. So, to get 3 TWC cable boxes would be 20.00 per month, totaling 60.00 extra per month, plus the electric to keep those heat missiles on.
Count up your monthly savings... and you can FF as well. |
