A Laptop Screen That Promises an Eyeful

A Laptop Screen That Promises an Eyeful

Are you intensely disappointed by the resolution of your laptop screen? Didn’t think so. Yet, Apple thinks it could be better. This has long been a theme for the famed technology company: Find a product that people don’t think is all that flawed (early MP3 players) and replace it with a product so captivating (iPod) that they forget whatever came before it.

The company continued its pattern last week with a new addition to the MacBook family: the MacBook Pro with Retina Display. This isn’t a laptop for average, mainstream consumers, but for pros and enthusiasts. (The MacBook Air, once an exotic niche, has taken over the mainstream role.)...

I stopped by my local Apple store last weekend..

While 2K+ for a laptop is a bit out of my range, that display is a thing of beauty. As with all Apple products, the design is up front but doesnt get in the way.

I went next door to Best Buy and looked over the comparably priced ultrabooks and notebooks and you can immediatly see what you are getting.

Look closely at straight lines - window borders, text, a nice high MP image.... The close your eyes for a second and remember that those slick looking ultrabooks all run Windows - remember how much you love that registry.......

Makes the 2K+ for the Macbook seem not to far out of line......

Don't forget to add the $349 AppleCare, that's really a must for this thing more than any other Apple product before, since nothing is user replacable and repairable...

If I were to buy one, I'd get AppleCare and then sell it about 6 months before it expired... Cuz threre's no way I'd want to hold onto it long term with no ability to get it repaired for a reasonable price.
