As you may recall, I just recently purchased a home and was asking questions about remodling my basement.
So I can get moved in, I am having the main floor hardwood refinished. Then the major basement work will start.
So far, the pictures show the sanding and one coat of poly. Unfortunately I do not have any before pictures handy for a comparison.
They are all just getting poly with no stain. A lot of the color different is just because of the lighting.
Will post more as I can get them. |

Some final pics.
This was done over three days with a total of 3 coats of oil based poly.
Now to get in gear on the basement. |

Question for the folks out there. I have a bunch of hardwood to refinish in the new house. Does anyone anyone have experience using stripper to remove old finish (followed by light sanding and TSP cleanup) instead of using a drum sander.
I have used drum sander in the past and found it extremely difficult to get a really nice finish. Additionally, in my 100+ year old house I don't know how many times the floor has been sanded (almost certainly it has already exceeded the one-time allowable). -- Everyone should own a Mac! Where did you get that a solid hardwood floor was limited to a one time sanding and refinishing? That may be true for cheaper engineered wood solid wood can take many refinishings. |
