Optimze FIOS not "sticking", super fast is not

OK, upgraded to 75/35 and am getting 60/32 when with 35/35 I was getting 43/39.

Ran optimizer, said needed changing but whatever it is doing is not sticking because I shutdown and restart and try again and it says I need to optimize and the speeds are unchanged.

Tried 3x and nothing. Yes, running IE9 as administrator when doing it.

Are the changes listed somewhere so I can make them by hand and are they the same now as they were when speeds were slower?

Running Win7, 64

Need more info, how are you connected wifi or ethernet. what type of nic card are you using and do you have the latest drivers installed for it. Try a safe mode test and see if there is a difference.

Actiontec rev I, gigabit ethernet Cat 6 connection to PC, ONT is ethernet as well, PPOE (long time user), Realtek PCI onboard nic with 2011 drivers. Issue is that fios optimizer says not optimized", does its thing, says restart and then says again "not optimized". Looking to check manually whatever optimizer does to fix or confirm settings. Just can't locate what they should be.

Do you have any security programs that may be blocking access to the registry by other programs? Even then, Win7 should be auto-tuning itself as you use it so I cannot see why the optimizer is needed.

Win7 still needs to be optimized for the higher upload speeds (SWIN). Microsoft only enabled TCP Autotuning on the downstream side of the TCP/IP stack (RWIN).

You have to run the optimizer with administrative privileges

Keep in mind it's "up to". If it fluctuates from 75+ to 60 or below that's probably BPON saturation on your switch.

The main reason why Verizon should have put these 75Mbps accounts on GPON...

I too went from 35/35 to 75/35.

Speedtest.net showing 86/36.

I'm at work so will have to play later but as I did say, I ran the optimizer tool after starting IE as an admin. But I didnot see an active X item, even after turining off my firewall and AV. Migt have someting else locking the registry. I did reboot the PC and the router each time as well. Thanks for suggestions, but I'd be just as happy to tweak the registry by hand if I could find the settings (MTU = 1492 already....)

I am only getting 48mbps on the upload. What is the best server to run a speedtest at that can handle 65mbps uploads? I can't seem to get any higher than 48mbps. I've run speedguides tweak program set to optimal and the slider to 100+.

What speedtests are you guys using? Is there one that works better with the higher speeds than speedtest.net?

Thanks!

Edit: Ok I just tested here »speedtest.verizon.com/fios300/ and I got 153/69. So I guess some of the servers at speedtest.net aren't able to saturate the 65meg. I'm most likely picking bad servers.

As I've posted elsewhere, the current production Ookla client that the public speedtest.net servers use cannot handle the uploads from FiOS. The new Ookla client software that Verizon is using has been tested to beyond 100Mb uploads....

Sounds like your IT department has locked down the browser and disabled active X

That would be me as it's my personal PC at home.

I misunderstood your post then. Same difference though, you have to enable activeX in IE

Pretty consistent. I went from 35/35 = 42/21

75/35 = 84/39

Used the Verizon InHome Agent and got the PC optimized without messing with IE and activeX. Changed speeds to 84 down and 35 up. Amazing that those configuration changes have such an effect, but at least I got it done. Syill may have been easier to just use regedit

I went from 35/35 to 75/35 online and today was only getting 58/35, I contacted support and they sent a new configuration to ONT and now im getting 83/35 .. So maybe you got an incorrect provision too.

I also went from 35/35 to 75/35.

I also ran the optimizer on Verizons site and saw no difference.

My 35/35 has always been about 42/27.
Upgraded to the 75/35 triple play bundle and now I seem to be getting about 82 down. Upload speeds are still in the 25-27 range.

My ONT is an alcatel I 211M-D, I wonder if that is what is causing my upload speeds to never approach 35? IIRC, the hardware was installed in November 2008. I'm on an actiontech MI424WR rev D. Guess I will have to call tech support one of these days.

Your ONT is not the problem. That's a GPON ONT with 1Gbps WAN port.
