Re: [DSL] attn Rocky .. TekSavvy & Bell PROBLEMS 1) Bell downgrading profiles when customers leave Bell, to fully deleted profiles 2) Bell downgrading profiles on TekSavvy users 3) Bell THROTTLING .. still and blatantly! 4) Bell DNS drops .. maybe TekSavvy too? 5) Bell blocking content on they're own users as well as Teksavvy users 6) TekSavvy saying it's Bell's fault about low speeds, bad lines, too far away from fiber [CO], etc. etc.
1) If you "leave Bell", why would they keep your service turned on? 2) That's usually an honest mistake, the customer shouldn't be penalized 3) Bell stopped throttling months ago 4) You can use your own DNS 5) You can use your own DNS 6) Blame game is going to happen EVERY time someone relies on someone else. The only way around it, get your hands dirty, do civil engineering work and get your own network built self managed from end-to-end. Wind is doing it, OVH is doing it, Beanfield is doing it.... Why do you the competition sucks here and there hasn't been any dark fibre routes laid since a decade ago? There's no foreign investment here, and there's really no one to blame for that but industry canada and CRTC. Now they are finally getting the message, maybe. -- Fiber Optics are the future of high-speed internet access. Stop by the BBR »Fiber Optic Forum. |

| Further more I don't really see the point of your argument. Bell gives their customers priority, the cheaper prices, the good hardware. Why are you with a 3rd party? DO you need a static IP? MLPPP?
The cellpipe issue is ridiculous, but it's not like there is no option. You have to go out and fix it yourself. I have a solid setup now. If you don't value your time and want to wait forever for Teksavvy to push some firmware update one customer at a time go ahead. If I need services a 3rd party offers, I would buy my own hardware. (I've done this)
If I don't need 3rd part services, sign up directly with Bell, and get 50% off for 6 months and the activation fee waived. It's cheaper if you're a light user. $80 for unlimited bandwidth and they treat you like a princess. |

 | reply to BliZZardX 1) fully deleted profiles means non-existent when TekSavvy or anyone else tries to locate a given address 2) most don't even know they been abused til tech or user tells them so 3) outright bull. Millions of users are being throttled as it's been recently reported in news and CRTC 4 & 5) bell rogers and others block traffic on the pipe .. independent ISP or not 6) 80% of people in canada are not tech inclined. Millions of families, farmers, old people, kids and disabled are going to jump at your idea of "civil engineering"? I'd like to see most techies try to teach older people the basics over and over each day .. because that's how quickly they forget. Millions are blocked from using 1st 2nd and 3rd party ISPs as they been blacklisted by Bell Rogers etc. and financially broke or incapable of getting even the most basic service. Go to a court house and see how many times you are told to look the info up on line, especially civil matters As school is a right to free education so is now internet as basic service. This is the fight of the 21st century. "Bell gives their customers priority" ... and this is another big problem. What about users who have been ripped off by Bell Rogers and others and are still in process of legal and civil actions? Rogers is actively and systematically overpowering Wifi, setting up dead end APs. In some cases, as in my area, some have put up EM engines to block nothing but most closest of APs. In order to login from 1 block away one needs a super cantenna or sattelite dish ad-on with they're wireless card. This is only the tip of the iceberg in cities, I haven't even touched on rural matters. DIY nets and free community ISPs are far and few between. And, big telcos are waging war against them. It's all about money and total control. If users don't smarten up and band together there will be no internet for 99% of people. Please go see 1000's in worst case scenarios and try to solve from there |

I'm very interested in this. What modem did you buy ? Can you get Teksavvy/Bell to waive the modem rental fee or you still have to pay it ? -- Providers: voip.ms, freephoneline, smartcall.ro through asterisk. | I made a few posts about it in the CellPipe reboot thread, it's a Zyxel P-870M-I1 v2 bridge for the Ikanos based Stinger remotes. Cost $202 from californiapc.com incl taxes and shipping. Bell will not waive the rental fee, but that is less important to me, at least the connection is rock solid stable. -- Fiber Optics are the future of high-speed internet access.
