| [Other] SIPBroker down? I am not able to view their website (I was hoping to get the SIPCode for a few providers).
I can't place calls using them on Callcentric anymore (just tried **275*18004444444, and got dead air).
Of course, everything else with Callcentric works okay, I just had a conversation with TellMe (if you could call it that, given that it's a robot ) regarding my weather for today.
So, has SIPBroker finally shut down, or is this temporary? |

| Well, considering that Voxalot shut down, this was inevitable.
----------------------
1) SipBroker website down.
2) Voxalot/Sipbroker forum site down, it was working 2 days ago.
3) SipBroker calls through CC not going through.
4) SipBroker calls through Voip.MS not going through.
5) I was able to call a SipBroker access number, but after dialing to use the SipBroker network there was just dead air.
----------------------
Perhaps this is because I said something the other day?
»Problem with SIP*Broker access numbers
I certainly did NOT say anything harsh or inappropriate, just reporting recent news.
I'm sure I'm gonna get blamed for this.... |

 | reply to XANAVirus I'm more optimistic here:
www.sipbroker.com does respond to pings, and is listening on port 80. After a long time, my browser did see a redirect, though it has not yet displayed anything useful. So, I see this as merely a sick server, rather than the plug having been pulled. It's likely just out of memory, has too many zombie processes, or some other resource has leaked. A simple reboot may restore service.
Though I know nothing about their internals, the SRV record for _sip._udp.sipbroker.com points back to the same server, so I suspect that the same disease is also preventing database lookups from working.
My only concern is that all the human resources have also leaked away, and no one is available to do the reboot. |

 | reply to XANAVirus It seems to be back up. Fingers crossed it stays that way! I'm on conference calls half the day and using the SIPbroker toll-free gateway saves a lot of money.
(I've found the free/value route for toll-free on VoIP.ms isn't the most reliable.) |

Thank you Voxalot for continuing this service. |

I'm sure I'm gonna get blamed for this.... Of course! "PX Eliezer -- The Favorite Scapegoat of BBR/DSLR!" {tm} You have to understand:
1) My introduction to VoIP was trying to sign up with SunRocket, literally just a few hours before SunRocket closed down. I must have been one of the very last people trying to sign up with them.
2) I signed up for a free Voxalot account the night before they announced they'd be discontinuing the service.
3) My kid was literally within minutes of putting down an enrollment deposit at a college that had been around for many years. We found out rather by accident that the college was probably closing down, and soon after they did....
So yes, I do feel a little jinxed, and having commented about a SipBroker issue just two days ago.... |

| reply to XANAVirus As others have said, it's back up. Thanks, Voxalot, for still continuing SIPBroker!
I posted about this, since I was receiving the 504 Gateway Timeout HTTP error code, so I would have to agree with Stewart.
PX, I totally understand.
There were a few non-VoIP services I had signed up with the day before they were to close, except I had not seen the notice because of my impairment to my vision.
Thanks everyone for posting about this. |
