DIY fish tank stand.

My google-fu is failing me for something of this size. I've got a small 10gallon fish tank I wish to make a stand for. The cheap particle board offerings at big box stores seem way overpriced. I'm having a brain fart as to how to construct something visually appealing and solid. It's 20"L 10"W 12"H. I'd make it a few inches bigger on all sides for aesthetics and particularly deeper to hide the air pump on the backside of the tank. Also another shelf below for fish flakes and whatnot. I'm thinking a simple 2x4 frame cladded in 1x's but I'm open to any suggestions.

Some people are like Slinkies. Not really good for anything, but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs.

I built one this way years back.. Four 2x4's for uprights, however high you want the stand. Then another set of four 2x4's for horizontal upper and lower. Then finally another four short 2x4's to join the halves together. This design also gives you a bottom shelf, and could add another intermediate shelf if you wanted. I cut pieces of 1/2" ply for the shelf facing, then coated the whole thing in tinted poly.. Used 2-1/2" deck screws, predrilled holes to prevent splitting
