| About Suddenlink Security I have a question about Suddenlink Security. I'm interested in maybe getting it because it seems lately that my area is getting bad in crime, so I want something to protect my family aswell as my stuff. Anyways, I'm wondering how much Suddenlink Security costs to install and how much it is monthly, Thanks!! |

 | Hi - my name is Ashley, and I'm with Suddenlink. I'd be happy to assist you with pricing for your area. Can you please email me your home address, and a contact phone number? My email is: ashley-AT-suddenlink-DOT-com. Thanks! |

 | reply to El Loco I really doubt you'll get them to quote you in public. There are absolutely no prices listed anywhere that I can find on the entire site, nor in commercials. If you do find out, would you mind bringing back some of the basic pricing info? Just curious to see the ballpark it's in. |

| I don't know why they make it so difficult to find pricing and give them money, even when logged in to their web site. I asked Ashley on Twitter how much a particular TV package cost in my zip code, and she gave me the SuddenLink number to call.
I kept my money in my wallet, instead. |

 | reply to El Loco SL pricing like other cable companies is derived to maximize the amount of money they can extract from a given geographical region.
It really is that simple, if SL is the only game in town you will pay. It has nothing to do with their "investment" in a given area.
On the other hand, people with another option like FIOS will pay as much as 50% less than those that don't have another option.
Cable company systems display on your account something like "competitive area" so the rep knows whether to deal or play hardball with you.
SL will not offer you a better deal unless you indicate that you have a better option. They know your specific market, it is in their system, so don't make stuff up.
Security and internet pricing will really vary by region due to the differences in competition.
Anyone paying for cable TV should be able to get that part of their bill cut in 1/2 by playing the DirectTV card. When a SL rep says the DirectTV promo is only good for 1 of 2 years, point out that it is still a better deal over 2 years AND they have a way better product. That has worked for everyone I know.
In terms of voice, start with the Vonage card and then mention you are looking at some of the other really solid VOIP providers (see DSLR VOIP forums for specific names). Honestly though, I would not bother with SL voice, their product is not very good and they lose on price and quality compared to other VOIP options. |

| reply to El Loco I inquired about it when it first came out here in Greenville.
Unless it's changed, Suddenlink is just reselling someone else's service. The vendor installs the equipment and provides the monthly monitoring. Suddenlink provides no support.....
If I remember correctly it was actually expensive than going to the vendor, I believe it was ADT (not sure). |

 | reply to El Loco very true, and what funny about your statement it is simple and most company's do this, but here's whats funny. The other night I saw a commercial for our local area from suddenlink stating they know we have internet choices in town and are happy that they are number 1 in the city and so on and so forth... we pay roughly 34.50 for internet here in town that is with cable tv, we have also at&t dsl here that has been extremely competitive in the area.. they kept sendin us stuff in the mail every time we turned around and for 15 dollars a month for 2 years! but like I told everyone else, the 34.50 is for 10mbps down, 1mbps up. AT&T can only do 1 or so here in town
on top of that we still surprisingly have a local dail up company and a wireless company's called skybeam and somthin else... their crap but still lol
but still wishing true competition comes along cause docisis 2.0 aint cuttin it |

 | slightly off topic, but along the lines of pricing...
SL has been marketing the 25 for life for the phone for pretty much a year now. The other day I got a thing in the mail that said half off SL phone. Perked my interest untill I turned the paper over and it said half off the regular price of 50/month is 25 and to call in before promotion ends.
WTF is this?!?! lmao -- 20/2 Suddenlink : Current 5/1 CMA : Old 15/2 TWC : Old |
