MrClean132Sassy 'MedicPremium join:2000-08-28 Toronto, On | Bell lowered my profile :\ Previously I was on a 6016/512 profile. Stable for months.
This morning at 10am, I lose connection. I come back a few minutes later to 3008/800 :\.
I called tech support and was told that I am on the wrong profile (should be 6016/512), and that it was 87$ to open a ticket. My line can handle it just fine, but basically Bell can charge me 87$ willy nilly and nothing might happen. I don't know if I was bumped off the remote or whatever. This was the profile that I was on the very first day my service was provisioned before they pushed me to a 5meg profile the next day.
Anyone had any luck getting their profile bumped back up. Here are my stats from my 8816.
Downstream Upstream SNR Margin : 38.0 13.0 db Line Attenuation : 9.0 7.0 db Data Rate : 3008 800 kbps Max Rate : 12304 1056 kbps POWER : 7.0 12.5 dbm CRC : 3 4 |

| Attenuation is still very low so you weren't bumped off the remote. Perhaps the line wasn't mapped correctly, and when Bell cancels a line they tend to leave it at 3008/800. If TekSavvy is seeing 6016/512 proves its not mapped correctly.
This may or may not correct itself within a few days.
BTW, it's not $87 to open a ticket just to bump your profile. Its if Bell "finds" something wrong with the line they may charge you. But you have the stats to back it up that there's nothing wrong with the line and if Bell does charge TekSavvy should dispute it. -- GO BLUE JAYS!

The ticket is open, and I guess we'll see what happens. I'll keep you guys updated as I find things out. |

I see that you've opened the ticket, so right now we're waiting on them to finish with it in testing.
If you have any questions along the way, PM me and I'll get you an answer.

Anyone had any luck getting their profile bumped back up. WOW. This just happened to me to as well. It was fine on Monday with a 6016/800 then I was downgraded to the default 3 meg profile on Tuesday.
I also called in and TS opened a ticket for me yesterday. A Bell tech called just a few minutes ago, looked over my line stats and said I was bumped off the remote for some reason. He forwarded a request to get me back on the remote and now I'm just waiting. |

cowwoc join:2007-05-19 St John'S, NL | Happened to me a few months ago (bumped off a remote, down from 6Mbit down to 3Mbit). I didn't open a ticket because I was told it was very likely Bell would just charge me and do nothing. Let me know if they put you back on the remote (and if you get billed). If it works out for you I'll do the same.
Thanks, Gili

The Teksavvy CSR told me that it was unlikely they'd charge me if it was on Bell's end which I believe it was. I'll repost here if they charge me. |

MrClean132Sassy 'MedicPremium join:2000-08-28 Toronto, On | Glad to hear you got your profile back.
According to my line stats and HiVolt, it doesn't seem like I was bumped off the remote, so I'm unsure if my situation is the exact same as yours.
I haven't heard from Bell yet as I just opened the ticket today around lunchtime.
I do have a Direct forum post and I was informed that right now it's in the testing phase with Bell and that once they get the mapping corrected that Teksavvy will see what they can do about the speed profile.
When they called you, was it anything important that you had to confirm or test? I have to work tomorrow and I may be unable to answer their phone call. Actually now that I think about it, Bell would probably call the house line and not my cell. D'oh.
I'll let you guys know what happens tomorrow. |

I'll let you guys know what happens tomorrow. Basically the tech asked what was wrong, I said my profile was downgraded and mentioned that the attenuation jumped to ~30 from 7 and it looked like I was bumped off the remote.
I defaulted to the 3meg profile though the line could handle higher so he bumped it up to the 5 meg profile. Afterwards, he was checking why I was bumped off the remote but couldn't find a reason. Then he said a ticket was submitted to get me back on. A tech later called to confirm that I was back on the 6meg profile. |

Hopefully I"ll be able to catch the tech before I head out for work. Sounds like you got a good pair of techs. Hope I get the same. |

This morning at 10am, I lose connection. I come back a few minutes later to 3008/800 :\. Since they lowered your speed by half, just cut your monthly payment by half.
If they call you, tell them it will cost 87$ to review the situation. |
|
 | reply to MrClean132 Ask to be put on the 6016/800 profile not the 6016/512 profile. Your upload speed is choking your download speed. Your line can easily handle it. |

MrClean132Sassy 'MedicPremium join:2000-08-28 Toronto, On | It does kind of bother me that there is an 87$ charge dangled above my head. I shouldn't have to think twice about a technical service call, especially since I pay for the service. But I suppose TSI Danielle says it covers everything up to the wiring in your house.
Has anything been wrongly dinged by the charge?
I guess though they don't really enjoy being at the mercy of Bell and Rogers either. Neither I nor TekSavvy did anything to change service on a connection that works fine and whatever tinkering Bell was doing caused reduced service for a day so far.
Also I did ask for the 6016/800 profile before during the 6meg upgrades, but I think it was something about me being on an IKNS remote and it giving false RCO readings on the upload.
If the Bell tech calls, I'll ask him if it's possible to get that.
Thanks. |
|
Mike2009 join:2009-01-13 Ottawa, ON kudos:3 | Even with the IKNS remote you would sync higher than 512 if they set the upstream profile at 800. You'd see something like 736 or 768. |
|
MrClean132Sassy 'MedicPremium join:2000-08-28 Toronto, On | Hopefully they can. 512 upload wasn't really doing it for me when I was trying to share some photos on picasa.
Just got a call from TekSavvy telling me that Bell has a dispatch set up from 8am-12pm to come out to my house. Teksavvy CSR was unsure if they actually needed to come into my house or not and said the Bell Tech would call 15-20 minutes before coming *if* they needed to get into my house.
Maybe they saw something on the line, who knows? |
|
MrClean132Sassy 'MedicPremium join:2000-08-28 Toronto, On | Well Bell Tech was just here. I saw him outside so I went to go take a quick look.
He checked at the 'Bell box' down the street and saw that it was at 3meg, so he called it in to get it raised. He then checked at the demarc and did a speed test there and got 6meg. He called for the profile change before I came out, and knowing Bell I didn't want to ask for the 800 upload in the off chance they mess things up and I gotta go through this again.
Back in the house, DSL came back online. I'm back on the 6016/512 after being offline for about an hour this morning to now. |
