 | [DVR] Can you set MoCA priority for STBs? So, I am currently renting. I live upstairs with my fiance, my landlord downstairs, and other renters in a cottage outback.
Between all of us, there are 8 STBs. Now, FIOS only supports 7 STBs well. So 1 of the 2 I use gets the shaft (No guide, no multiroom DVR, etc...). There is also significant pixelation when watching HD channels.
I have router access through WiFi only. I can't access any of the hardware, except a splitter in our apartment for our two boxes (living room and bed room).
My landlord knows nothing about networks and such.
My question is, if I can access the router set-up menu, can I give my two boxes priority over some of the others?
If I switch the two cables on the spliter, it controls which on has access to the network. The other box is listed as 'Offline' in diagnostics. So the left outlet from the splitter is connected to the network, the right isn't. They each have their own IPs when connected, but I can't get both connected at the same time. |

 | With a Low Pass Filter (LPF) installed at the desired location, you would effectively block the MoCA frequencies above 860 MHz. The box should still boot up and receive channel authorizations since it would still receive Out Of Band (OOB) signals in the 75 MHz range. However, guide data, widgets, and on demand will not work; it will function only as a tuning adapter.
If you can't find a Low Pass Filter, a satellite diplexer accomplishes the same task. Just be sure to connect the 5 to 860 MHz port to the set top box and terminate the satellite port with a 75 ohm resistor. |

Not sure how you got VZ to install 8 STBs where not all of them work. VZ needs to fix this.

If you have any MOCA 1.0 devices on your network and you're trying to connect an 8th STB, you're not going to get a MOCA connection. -- There are 10 kinds of people in the world; those who understand binary and those who don't.

 | Ok. I admit my knowledge of this stuff is rudimentary, found from various forum posts found through google searches.
My boxes are a Moto QIP 6416-2 HD DVR and a HD QIP 7100 1.
The 7100 1 was here when we moved in, used by the previous tenants. The landlord ordered the 6416-2 for us at our request.
Would a bad splitter allow TV through, but pixelated on HD, and also cause a problem connecting to the MOCA network for the guide, DVR access and such? |

Uhg, it's such a pain because I have to go through my landlady. And trying to explain to her that I need a new box because it's better just isn't going to fly I think. It's the 7100 that's giving us the problem anyway. |

PoloDudePremium,VIP join:2006-03-29 Northport, NY kudos:3 | The 7100 is not the main problem. The 6416 is NOT 1.1 compliant. It must be swapped out or your system will never work right. Your cabling is messed up too i am sure. Tell her the 6416 is not compatible with your installation and that VZ needs to install a compatible box. -- There are 10 kinds of people in the world; those who understand binary and those who don't.
