It might have once held this position, but the 1970's are long past and there are more diversions on the net than conceived of in your limited philosophy.
The industry is mired in the past where all comm was one way. It is now vastly more complex and to survive, the industry will need to adapt. Trying to distract from the real problem at the core of all this will have limited efficacy and will ultimately leave the current players stymied to such an extent that they will not be able to make the leaps they will need to make as time goes forward.
