| [HSI] illegal cable hookup messed up internet aparently somone tried to hook up illegal cable yesterday and messed up my hsi anyway about 6 hours later it got all fixed i bet the guy who stole cable when they unhooked it was pissed rofl (they probably woulda had cable another day or 2 had i not escalated it) |

There are fines in every state, its called theft of service. Charter will likely do a line audit in your area, and if it deems it necessary, press charges. All that for a few bucks a month for cable. |

Not justifying stealing cable, but if cable was actually just "a few bucks" a month no one would do it. So yeah it's wrong but don't say it's only a few bucks a month. |

Once Charter goes to Switched Digital in all their markets it will cut down on the theft as the illegal people will not get any picture as they need a valid cable box to unscramble the pictures. |

truble is my market is switched digital
what matters is going from analog to encrypted digital (more hd and a lot harder to steal)technicly even when digital there will still be people stealing it just not as many i mean ive heard people have managed to clone the cable cards in devices |

I would say that if cable was $5 a month the % of people stealing it would be dramatically reduced. To deny that is being obtuse. of course you always have SOME idiots stealing cable if it were a penny a year. My point is something that currently costs close to a $1000 a year for even the most basic of packages is not "just a few bucks". |

No, but my point remains the same: there will always be someone trying to steal it, even if its free, some people are like that, and figure its not hurting anyone to steal cable television.
The market here still has analog clear QAM signals, which results in a few of my neighbors trying to steal my cable(1 of them cut my line completely, and thus, an entire audit of the node was performed, apparently cutting him, and about 30 other people who were all charged with crimes off). Charter does prosecute if they can. |

It's a matter of perspective. To some that's like a few bucks a month where some that's a lot of money.

few means not many but more than one
unrelated note people will always steal cable or try to thats the way humans are even when it goes all digital people will come up with a quantum computer to break the digital encryption and junk |

Want cheap cable channels by satellite without a contract? Just look here: »www.programming-center.net/h2h_410.htm or take a look at the attached PDF.
You'll need to be willing to put up a 6-8 foot satellite dish yourself and buy a Motorola 4DTV 922/920/905/410 receiver.
This is how I got cable channels before I got DirecTV HD.
On another note, how did you get this fixed so fast? When a neighbor cut my cable line it took 3 days to get fixed!
