 | [Cable] How can I force TWC to carry all the RSN's? Is there a way I can force TWC to carry all 3 of the RSN's that both DTV and Dish carry? My situation is that I live in Terre Haute (West Central Indiana) and TWC carries FSN Midwest and FSN Ohio but does not carry CSN Chicago. As a Cubs fan, that annoys me; especially considering the fact that my area is pretty much spilt between the Cubs and Cardinals, with the Reds and Whitesox's behind. Is there anyway I can place pressure on TWC in order them to listen? Or perhaps is this a technical issue that prevents them from carrying all 3? |

Might be easier to switch to a sat. provider. |

TWC will simply allow you to switch to a carrier that does carry the extra channel. -- Brian

|
 | Only option? Uhh, no. D* = FTL |
|
 | reply to tjb122982 The "C" in CSN Chicago stands for Comcast. Maybe that has something to do with. I am not in that area, so I have no idea. Do other cable companies that are not Time Warner or Comcast carry that channel in your region? Usually though, it just comes down to whether the provider thinks carrying the channel is worth the cost. |

 | Even though DirecTV carries all the RSNs, how many are actually able to be viewed out of market? The concept of Blackouts come to mind. -- The difference between genius and stupidity is that genius has its limits. |

Uhh volunteer to PAY for them??? And don't bet on that doing it to. Plus local cable it could be stupid black out rules.
But personally as a person that gives NADA about sports in general, why is 50% of my bill that cost for the "FREE" chs? That is what sports bars are for... drink and have communal fun, but you are still paying for it at home and never watch there???
Now why is it the sports people just won't say no??? Well that would be OBVIOUS because they are getting a FREE ride from us that could give a crap... that still pay for ESPN and the other NOT 'FREE" crap we never watch at their benefit.
So yeah the "right" serfs gladly riding the Lord'`s horse, at the other's they feel superior to could care less cost.

Steve MehsGun Control Is Using A Steady HandPremium join:2005-07-16 | reply to tjb122982 Is Comcast Sports Net Chicago really one of your home RSNs or would it be useful only for Cubs and White Sox games? Are the Blackhawks your home NHL team? Are the Bulls your home NBA team and are the Fire your home MLS team?
Team boundaries, markets, and RSN coverage areas do not always coincide. Example, I live outside of Buffalo, NY. We have no real home MLB team here, in addition to the Yankees and Mets, who claim the entire state of NY and some areas of PA, NJ and CT, the Cleveland Indians and Pittsburgh Pirates are also my home teams. On DirecTV (lets forget Dish Network even exists since were talking sports here), if I have the Sports Pak, and I do, I would get all Pirates games in the clear on Root Sports Pittsburgh and all Indians games in the clear on Sports Time Ohio. All other pro sports would be blacked out on those channels. Now, Time Warner Cable does not carry either RS Pitt or STO in my area, as they are really are not my home RSNs. If I, and I usually do, order MLB Extra Innings, Pirates and Indians games ARE NOT blacked out on MLB EI on cable. Would you say your general situation is similar, or not?
Due to these oddball situations, in some areas, especially if you live in an area like you or I do, you may get an extra team with satellite or visa verse.
Here is the MLB Coverage Map.

I'm guessing the reason TW does not carry CSN Chicago in your area is that you do not qualify to receive 100% of all the pro sports the channel covers. -- For the future of our nation, we must unite and vote out the terrorist known as Hussein Obama. As a huge sports fan, I always laugh when people complain about the cost of sports on TV. While I would just die without my Buffalo Sabres, chalk me up as an NFL, NHL, MLB and NASCAR fan. Im also starting to get into box lacrosse. I will watch college and minor league sports, but only if my teams are involved.
I dont find sports bars enjoyable. I dont drink alcohol, and I dont enjoy being around others when they consume alcohol. So why should I go there? I want to watch my sports in the comfort of my own home, on my own TV. Nothing like not being able to not hear the TV while a bunch of drunks are yelling and acting like idiots. Ill take my own high end 55 TV, with my own Dolby 5.1 set up, with my own DVRs so I can re-watch key plays.
Thanks for subsidizing my sports addition, I (and the fine folks at Disney) appreciate it
We need more sports channels! I'd like to see some more American Hockey League coverage, and I'd like more NLL acction then just CBS Sports Networks game of the week. -- For the future of our nation, we must unite and vote out the terrorist known as Hussein Obama. I'd like to see some more American Hockey League coverage, and I'd like more NLL acction then just CBS Sports Networks game of the week. I actually have the same sentiments. Cable TV just seems kind of stupid to me without sports. I hate reality TV so the only shows I actually watch are on FX (may God Bless Always Sunny) and AMC plus the high end programming on HBO (such as Broadwalk Empire) and Showtime. Everything else is reality TV and movies and reruns that I have on DVD somewhere.
Now with that being said, I believe IPTV and Google Fiber project are the future. I don't see subscription TV ever going away but I can see it becoming more A La Carte such as a package with sports channels, movie channels et cetera. |
