They'll abandon the number system, too confusing from a marketing perspective and adopt the iPad naming convention and call it iPhone.
Radical yes, but neither MacBooks nor iPads have model numbers, so why use a number iwith iPhone, especially with the bizarre numbering system 4,4S,5?
Jobs is gone, Cook is running the show and the iPad lack of number might have been his doing.
As to models, the 4S (just guessing) is still selling well, so why cannibalize a successful product? There will be a huge group of buyers for the next version when all the users of the 4 come off contract...I'll say an October release for new hardware. |

Anyone who bought an AT&T 4 when they first came out is already off contract, they were upgrade eligible in November.
