[FireFox] Arrrgh....

Sometimes flash is a pain! checked my plug-ins to see if they were current, and Mozilla said there was a new version of Shockwave Flash. So I download 11.3 & install. Big mistake, as suddenly instead of the flash movie, just a big white square, Even the test here: »www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/ had a white box.

Had to uninstall the plug in & let firefox reinstall the 11.2.202.235 version again.

Anyone else have had any problems with 11.3? Wish I had taken some screenshots, darn it! (But no, I'm NOT going thru that again)

Which version of Firefox are you running? I tired it on Waterfox 13.0 and have no problems. I could try to install Firefox 13 just to verify, but I think it would work, as its the same code base.

Looks like a thread has started concerning the latest Flash update here: »forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic···=2485319

Not the same issue as you.

Seems that now, the Browser, Flash, and Video Drivers all need to play nice with each other for everything to work. Had a problem with one of the Adobe Flash versions (green screen with some videos) that a Video Driver update fixed on my system.

I don't see any reason to update Flash or my Video Drivers at this point. No reason to fix something that isn't broke LOL (not yet, anyway).

Got both Firefox 12 & Aurora 15.0a2. Did it on both. Anyway, working fine now, just weird is all.

Ok, tried again, this time I remembered to uninstall the old flash player & re-install the new one. Firefox 12 & Aurora still white box, but Waterfox 13 doesn't, and they are all using the same profile. This is weird.

Strange indeed. I had Waterfox 13 running, and just installed Firefox 12.

I tried the link above to test the version of Flash, and it appears to work fine for me.

Not sure if you have tried this yet but here is a suggestion. Depending on how many add-ons and extensions you have, this could be some work. For me, its easy (all I care about is my bookmarks, as I don't have any add-ons, or extensions...just plug-ins).

I would backup your current profile. Uninstall Waterfox, Firefox, and Flash, and remove your profiles.

Then, install firefox 12 and install Flash, and see if it works.

Again, I know its a lot of work, but maybe something is corrupt in the install of something. While it did work for me, I know I have a really "clean" profile, so there is not much there that could go wrong as far as conflicts between versions and the add-ons, extensions, etc that I have.

Was gonna do that, then thought why not try again & then disable all extensions & plug-Ins (except flash) & see if I can narrow it down. So I update AGAIN & now it is working fine, even though I did the same things I did the first two times. Go Figure.

Well, at least you got it working.

I remember I had a strange issue with Firefox a while back...I had always did an upgrade, never a clean install...and finally after doing the upgrade on Version 9.x (I think I started with 3.x), something finally "broke". No idea what, but a clean install with a new profile fixed the problem.

I never did figure out what it was, but it worked, so I really did not think much about it.

The easiest solution to get Flash working properly for any browser is to stick the NPSWF32.DLL directly into the plugins folder of the browser .

Seems like for me the old bug of content being drawn over flash has been resurrected with these last updates..

I think its related with the new windowless plugin model for Flash in 13 and nothing to do with flash it self.

out of curiosity, those of you having problems with flash 11 and ff, what kind of video card / chip are you running?

just curious since switching to a relatively new NVIDIA based card I have had zero issues with flash, unlike previously where it was flip a coin if a new version would work or not..

right now flash 11.3.x and firefox 13 works just fine for me, I even have hardware acceleration and protected mode running.

Last time a customer of my'n have had a simpler problem, and turns out it was a setting in the Ad Block Plus, it was set to block flash. So i would check all of your extensions that you have.

I am using the latest version of Palemoon X64 with Flash Player 11.2.202.235 installed. I also have flashblock installed. On occasion, I have to add the desired website to it's white-list for it to work.

Checked Ad Blocks filters, nothing showing Flash being blocked. Just thought it was a little weird that first the update doesn't work then on the 3'rd try it does.

There is quite the trouble with this protected mode player crashing Firefox/plugin container.

Yeah, check your about:crashes. I had several crashes there. They were silent crashes when closing Firefox so I had no idea I was getting these as all my videos were playing fine. I've since disabled Protected Mode for Flash.

It's an issue with the plug-in container .exe that is not sitting well with the new version of Flash, some say it's the Sandbox aspect, I've yet to be convinced.

All Beta releases of this Flash Player for Firefox (w/protected mode) have been crashing Firefox container.exe ...don't know why they released it with this problem.

Because there are several critical security fixes in this release, it may be better to just disable protected mode vs reverting to old version.

That's what I did and it now works. Also I didn't know this issue existed in the beta and they still released it. What a joke.

I like one of the options they list in the troubleshooting protecting mode:

quote:
Problem: Flash content does not appear, YouTube display errors such as "An error occurred. Please try again later.", or Flash Player crashes randomly.

Solution: If RealPlayer is installed on your system, please disable the RealPlayer Browser Record plug-in.
Funny, I've got that plug in, and it's enabled, and protected mode's on, and flash is still working correctly. Maybe I ought to send Adobe my system to see where they messed up?
