Probably not. They killed off support for the 3G with iOS 5. I gave my sister-inlaw one of my old 3g iPhone's with the latest "4.whatever" installed, and she gave it back because it was too slow even for her. She would rather rock a pre-paid flip phone than use the crippled iPhone 3G.
