@rogers.com

Tried to order TS Home phone. Port from Bell. TS said no.

Firstly, I want to mention that the agent was very pleasant and professional. She did not know the reason why, but she said that they are not able to port Bell copper services over to TS copper services right now. What gives TS? I would like to be a customer!

Explained in this thread here,

»Teksavvy Stop sell on Phone Transfers

Basically TSI has hit the limit of transfers bell will allow in a month.

That thread was from May 4th. It's now June 8th. If it's a monthly limit, then it should have reset... Unless TekSavvy has done so many transfers early in June.

Regardless, this is bullshit and why isn't TekSavvy doing something about it?

The issue I have with this is not that it happened. It's that like with many other things lately, Teksavvy refuses to say much, if anything about it. Potential customers are simply left in the dark. All we got was a "we hit our limit".

Tek used to be so open about everything that 2 years ago, they would have told us everything short of showing us the signed agreement.

Metalhawk,

We are not keeping anything from you. We are in the process of finding out when we can resume porting numbers. Once we have that information, we'll certainly be sharing it with everyone.

Not to crap on the thread but what if someone wanted to start a copper line directly with TSI is this possible? Or does the stop sell apply to this as well?

This is a SILLY thread !

Then again, to put the words B$ELL & SILLY in the same sentence would be redundant, IMNSHO.

But having said all of THAT, I would expect that SILLY would back a NEW POTS install, as it would be a NEW install from everyone's POV.

We can do new installs. The problem lies with the transfer from a Bell line to TekSavvy.

Wasn't there a skit in the The Simpsons, where instead of saying release the hounds, Mr. Burns says release the lawyers?

If I were TSI that's where I'd be at, right about now.

I think you should be very glad Teksavvy is willing to do the stop sells at all. So many companies will sell you the product even if they can't deliver/fully deliver the product/service.

It would be very interesting to see if other people are having problems porting to other services/companies from Bell. i.e. VoIP, or other traditional lines.

If Bell is blocking, I'd be making a case to the CCTS.

anonycmplain

@allstream.net

If you bring it up to CCTS, they would take the complaint against Teksavvy and not Bell as you would be identified as a customer of Teksavvy and it would be viewed as a question to determine why Teksavvy can't take you on as a port in client... I wonder if the CRTC has something it can do about this, last I heard is that porting is supposed to be streamlined and with no undue inconvenience to the consumer.... If Bell is doing something to prevent customers from porting, maybe there's something the CRTC can do about it for wholesale?

We port lots of numbers away from Bell every day to our own landline service. No limits to numbers, or refusals to port. They can't. The MALI prohibits it.

I'm sure its a totally different story if you're just re-selling Bell service - that would be covered by a completely different agreement, and you can bet Bell drafted it so they'd be in the driver's seat.
