Virgin Mobile Gets Prepaid iPhone June 29

On a contract carrier, people generally pay about $200 for an iPhone with a new two year contract. Assuming a conservative $70 per month contract, that's $1,880 over two years for use of the phone.

With the 4S on VM, it will cost $650 for the phone itself, but then only $30 per month for the plan, for a total over two years of $1,370. That means you're paying $500 less.

Would I personally do this? No, probably not. Not when on the same VM plan, you can get an actual 4G phone and pay half the price (the HTC Evo V 4g is $299, and there are bound to be other cheaper 4g phones in the next few months as well). There's also the question of quality of service. My experience with VM with an older phone has been mixed, but that will vary by location as with most carriers.

Pinky: I think so, Brain, but "Snowball for Windows"?
