Re: PAYG ?? said by elefante72:For many people, PAYG makes better sense. Wouldn't something like CallCentric be more of a happy medium for many people. |

| Absolutely. The only thing is that it's cost is comparable to voip.ms IF you use the minutes AND there are taxes on top. I call Canada frequently, so the plan had to work. I eliminated the issue by putting the inlaws on voip.ms (they pay $12 a month on a bad month--and in Canada that is a bargain), so the cost is zero (voip.ms-> voip.ms is free).
I heavily looked at them as an alternative, but in the end voip.ms won out . Prices only pay for what you use and there are ZERO taxes, USF, etc because it is PAYG. I don't use the 911 option (that will run you $3) but it is there if you want it.
I remember before I left Phonepower my taxes were hovering around $6. I don't spend that in 3 months on voip.ms.
I was forced into the triple play for verizon, so that runs me $5 in taxes/month just for the phone, but it would have cost more for the 2-play so I sucked it up. Verizon has had lots of problems w/ callerid and 7 and 10 digit issues. It's ironic because they are big red, and they can't even fix callerID database issues. |

Callcentric's PAYGO rate ($0.0198/min) is more than that of voip.ms ($0.012/min premium or $0.0105/min value). However, callcentric only charges taxes if you live in New York State (you must pay sales tax since they have a physical presence there).
The only additional fee that you have to pay with a PAYGO callcentric account is a monthly E911 fee of $1.50 since this is mandated by the FCC if you live in the U.S.
Voip.ms is based in Canada. I am not sure if you have to pay taxes to them if you live in Canada or not. If you live in the U.S., voip.ms does not charge tax. |

| reply to elefante72 CallCentric has NY State sales taxes ONLY if you are a NY State resident.
They recently introduced some good flat-rate outbound plans (500 and 1000 minute, with the 911 cost included in the bundle) in addition to offering PAYG outbound.
On inbound, you also have a choice of flat-rate or PAYG plans.
So everything can be customized to your needs.
