Re: [DSL] Speed diff between MLPP and No MLPP on 25/7

While I didnt come back here last night I had Steam downloading some games and it was maxing out at around 9- 9:30.
I can come back tonight around then and prove I'm not seeing any congestion here if you would like.

Maybe the ERX you are on was overloaded? in that case just disconnect and reconnect to fix it.

I havent seen any of this supposed congestion at all, perhaps its the remote you are on, or the ERX, both of which are Bell's fault(for the crappy load balance, and mismanagement of remotes), not TSI.

There seems to be far more reports of congestion than just "a couple of known users". I think the graph I posted a while ago is pretty convincing that there is congestion with Teksavvy but not Bell from my line. It's good to hear your counter-example though. I'm connected to 206.248.154.106; perhaps that makes a difference.

I'm on 206.248.154.122, sounds like load balancing issues then.

I don't seem to have ever gotten anything other than 206.248.154.106. I'm wondering if perhaps the MLPPP accounts @wiredhighspeed.com can only use that one...(because all PPP links must terminate at the same ERX for multilink to work)?

I also see some congestion on 206.248.154.103, using my @hsiservice.net account (from the IPv6 beta). It also doesn't seem to change, so perhaps @hsiservice.net is tied to that one.

For my case, I'm fairly sure it's not the remote that's congested because a Bell account on the same line doesn't congest (yet, would presumably use the same remote).

I find that my speeds tend to drop pretty consistently on Sunday nights, and will go back up to full speed if I instate MLPPP...

I'm running Gargoyle on my router ATM so that's not an option, but this issue pops up fairly often.

is this for bonding or just single line mlppp? why are you guys even running single line mlppp? the throttling has been turned off for a while....

you are correct, there is erx dedicated to mlppp because it was causing problems that the regular ppp connections werent, so they isolated it to its own hardware, and they started charging $4 for mlppp when they did this.

I'm no longer running MLPPP, but still using the same account as when I was using single-line MLPPP a while back.

What about everyone else with congestion? Are these all @wiredhighspeed.com or @hsiservice.net accounts too?

@hsiservice.net accounts?

I ditched MLPPP (was using single line to avoid throttling and cancelled it when Bell stopped throttling) so I switched from @wiredhighspeed.com to @teksavvy.com account.

I experience some congestion on some nights and mainly with ERXs other than .122 which seems to be the best one for me (albeit that too sometimes is a little congested).

I suspect I am getting some congestion now. I'm getting 3.7 Mbps on a speedtest on a 5 Mbps line.

My 25 Mbps line got disconnected on Tuesday. Seems like the techs pulled my line when installing one for the neighbours. Will see how long it takes Bell to reconnect me. *grumble*. Good thing for having two lines.

I still seem to be throttled but only during the 'free unlimited period'. My torrents were at 550KBps down and 40KBps up (speed limits I set) until 10pm when download dropped to 1-30KBps but still 40KBps up. I was wondering why my monthly usage in the "free unlimited period" is so low, but obviously the Bell throttle is still in effect.

I was on MLPPP for years until the recent price increase, dropped it due to the $ and fact that everyone was saying the throttles were being lifted.

Throttling shouldn't be being done any longer. If you are still getting throttle, have you ensure all MLPPP have been disabled?

After I dropped MLPPP in Feb, in March I actually replaced the router + modem. The new router wouldn't support MLPPP even if I wanted to . I'm using the proper ID (teksavvy.com). I coincidentally just reimaged the linux machine I use for downloading. Although I ported over all my settings, perhaps something was missed. I do get maximum speeds (limited to 550 / 40) during the day, but it's the evening it drops down to But I'm in no rush. Just was pondering if the throttle was really gone 24/7.

I ran into this issue on my connection - constant speed issues with SMLPPP - they deleted my login and gave me a new one which took away the static IP/MLPPP and that resolved all the speed issues. I could care less about MLPPP since I'm not bonding at the moment but static IP is a must and that caused issues too (from what I understand).

You can get a Static IP on a non MLPPP login. If you'd like me to add your IP again, let me know.

You must have had MLPPP still enabled on your router. You can login just fine to an MLPPP capable login and not use MLPPP.
