 | Tyler, Tx and 50 Currently Tyler residential services don't have the 50, as the service choices jump from 20 to 107. Has anyone heard anything about Tyler possibly getting this package? It seems quite reasonable to offer it in this area. The 5 upload is really attractive, but i just can't quit afford the 107.
Thanks is advance! |

 | Probably because we got the 50 and missed out on the 107, lol |

mtrot join:2006-03-26 Tyler, TX | reply to Teno Have you had the 20 plan? I used to have it, and I often got speed test results up to 49 Mb/s. I found the 20 service was way faster than 20. |
|
 | I subscribe to the 20Mb/sec service and just speed tested it. BAM! 48Mbps and 18ms ping. |

quote: The up to 1.5 Meg would be 30.99 a month before taxes, the up to 10 Meg would be $52.99 a month before taxes, the up to 15 Meg would be $66.99 a month before taxes, the up to 20 Meg would be $79.95 a month before taxes, and the up to 107 Meg would be $120.00 a month before taxes.
Nothing between 20 and 107. |

 | Nice speeds for the 20 plan. Never went above 20 here in Bossier area until they just now upped the speeds
tcg, are those unbundled prices? Seems about right if so. Though in my area we don't have the 15 or 107, but do have the 50. |

tcgPremium join:2003-09-12 Lubbock, TX | Yes, unbundled. I think they're all too high, especially the 1.5 for $31. I think there should be a 30 and 50, but with it being $80 for 20 and $120 for 107, I guess they didn't think they had room or incentive.
I traded from the 107 cable @ $120 to 12 Mb/s uverse @ $30 for the $90/mo savings. Can't really say that for day to day use I see a difference. I do still have both SL & AT&T at work. |
|
 | To be honest, unless you download just a crap ton of stuff, you probably wouldn't see a difference or very little going to anything 10 megs or better.
But cable can charge more because they really have very little competition on the whole. Just in my case, I've yet to live within range of a 12 meg dsl connection, and anything a kin to FTTH, well.... never seen it in any of towns or surrounding areas yet. Cable is simply covering a far greater area.
So the demographic ON A WHOLE that can compete on speed is rather limited.
Pricing theory aside, when you bundle it you'll save 10-20 bux off those prices. In this area, the 1.5 is 19.99, 10 (now currently 15) was 32 i believe (started with this), the 20 (and now currently 30) is 68 but another user has apparently talked them down to 52/month in my area. And the 50 meg was like 110, something totally ridiculous. --bundled prices-- -- 20/2 Suddenlink : Current 5/1 CMA : Old 15/2 TWC : Old |

Not really interested in the TV portion of the bundle. |
|
 | I feel more or less the same way, but I usually wind up hosting games and voip servers for my friends so I'm more or less "locked" into getting a higher download just for the 2 meg upload speed..... sad. If I had anything that competed I would likely switch or atleast give SL a chance to price match the speed package.
TV on the other hand is just a completely different waste of money I won't get into right now, lol
Your uverse though is their vdsl yes? -- 20/2 Suddenlink : Current 5/1 CMA : Old 15/2 TWC : Old |

tcgPremium join:2003-09-12 Lubbock, TX | Yes, it's the vdsl flavor. I tried uverse TV for a brief period a couple of years ago and liked the channel selection, but the PQ was awful. The broadband is pretty solid. I used to have the 24/3 and could get it again if I wanted since I have a max sync of about 53 Mb/s. |
