Mele20Premium join:2001-06-05 Hilo, HI kudos:4 | reply to antdude I can't watch any videos at Youtube if I wanted to....I have 5% speed consistency (quality of service) along with lots of retransmitted packets, retransmit timeouts and fast transmits all of which means I have shit for a connection. Great timing from my ISP which just sent me a letter saying my bill for Road Runner will be going up next month.
I realize this video is not at Youtube. It loads after only about 2 minutes and starts and I can hear the audio but the video consists of one frame showing for about 30 seconds and then another frame shows (frozen) for 30 seconds...on and on. So, basically, I hear it (although that stutters and stops and rebuffers too) but cannot watch it. It would be nice if you guys who like to post links to videos would take pity on us in Hawaii and also post links to web articles on the subject. Even when my connection is behaving normally (which it has not since the first week of May) Google reports that youtube video for Hawaii Road Runner connections streams at an average of about 4.4mbps while streaming at an average of about 7.8 mbps on the Mainland. ( I have RR Standard at 10/1).
At Youtube, I see black boxes and although videos will load after waiting about 10 minutes only a second or two will play and then rebuffer for 5-10 minutes for another second or two to play. Yeah, TWC will do a truck roll but not for three weeks! (I have to go by the local office tomorrow to get them to come next week). -- When governments fear people, there is liberty. When the people fear the government, there is tyranny. Thomas Jefferson |

"It's your right to know what data is being collected about you and how it affects your online life." etc. All that sounds good, and of course, one has to be running FF to even get the info that is in his program, but the one thing it doesn't do and nothing will in my foreseeable future...what the heck can anyone do about it without unplugging the computer? |
