Re: Quote for replacement AC condenser

Probably doesn't hurt to ask as new R22 units are still available. You are not getting quotes on R22 units are you?

Any "new" R22 unit that you buy today will have been sitting in a warehouse for the past two and a half years.

Not true, Working for a wholesaler we don't have any more charged R22 units only dry units.

quaker See Profile is right. Though the ban prevented any more condensing units from being manufactured with R-22 refrigerant in them, the manufacturers used a loophole and started manufacturing "dry" condensing units with nitrogen in them. Of course, R-22 prices skyrocketed this year and will continue to do so. There is little benefit in sticking with an R-22 system.

I stand corrected then. My company only does geothermal and we stopped making R22 units several years ago. Our refrigeration loops are self contained within the unit usually so that's probably the difference why we completely stopped R22 production.
