Re: CenturyLink Download Data Caps

Might want to add the speed of the line & the amount of data that was consumed in the past few months, since it mentioned the speed purchased is one of the things looked at.

People, please let us know where you live and if previously it was Qwest. Also, let us know if you get disconnected, a phone call etc. Lets keep all post about this here.

Not all of Centurylink has the cap. I think it might just be the old Qwest portion of Centurylink.

I don't have any bandwidth cap. I know I download over 250gb a month. Probably around 500-750gb.

Not during prime time hours, though. Bandwidth caps are fail, as they should only apply to the hours when bandwidth usage is most in demand, i.e. 7-11PM, and if they're really oversaturated you can expand that to 4-7PM and 11PM-1AM.

As far as I can tell, all of Centurylink has caps now. I don't believe there is a different excessive use policy for old qwest members compared to anyone else, but if I'm wrong, I'd appreciate links comparing the two.

If you've been downloading that much, and have not been contacted yet, my assumption is that your node isn't heavily congested, so therefore you're not causing any issues.

What I think is completely wrong is that a cap is imposed, yet Centurylink keeps you in the dark regarding what you've downloaded (i.e. no meter). At least I have a router that keeps tab of all my traffic, but how many other people do?

CenturyLink is about to be my only option. So there is no official cap and they don't give you a way to see how much you're downloading?
