New cable modem signal levels

I'm looking to upgrade my old SB5101 cable modem but I notice that my signal levels are low compared to what others are reporting with newer modems.

Downstream
SNR 29.9 dB
Power Level -1.6 dBmV

Upstream
Power 47.7 dBmV

Are my signal levels too low for a new modem like the DPC3010? The SB5101 is currently stable with no connection loss.

Signal levels look fine however that low SNR suggests a noise interference issue somewhere. It could just be a bad modem or there could be something related to the signal causing the issue.

Its stable with good speeds? no reason why the 3010 wouldn't work however stay away from the moto 6* series D3 modems[they aren't as good with less than perfect signal levels]

Upgraded to a DPC3010 and the signal looks a lot better.

Downstream
Channel 1: -0.6 dBmV 39.9 dB
Channel 2: -0.7 dBmV 39.3 dB
Channel 3: -0.8 dBmV 38.4 dB
Channel 4: 0.0 dBmV 0.0 dB
Channel 5: 0.0 dBmV 0.0 dB
Channel 6: 0.0 dBmV 0.0 dB
Channel 7: 0.0 dBmV 0.0 dB
Channel 8: 0.0 dBmV 0.0 dB

Upstream
Channel 1: 49.0 dBmV
Channel 2: 0.0 dBmV
Channel 3: 0.0 dBmV
Channel 4: 0.0 dBmV

But now my connection appears to be capped at 1Mbps downstream and 400Kbps upstream. Help!

Same results on 2 different computers. I also tried connecting a laptop directly to the cable modem and swapping out different patch cables.

It might be worth confirming that if you haven't checked lately. If you want to PM me the modem's MAC address I can check for problems from this end.

Thank you CoxTech1. PM sent. I checked with billing and tech support shortly after I noticed the problem and both confirmed my account as preferred.

In regards to the signal levels that your modem reports, I have had three different modems over the past year and each modem has reported different signal levels. In *my* experience, the Motorola modems seem to report better signals than the Cisco modems have.

By "better" do you mean "the modem reported more accurate levels" or "the modem was showing closer to ideal levels"

You are correct with saying signal levels vary by modem, but I will say having used both D3 modem that are 4x4, and 8x4. I think has to do with the different chipset(?) being used in these modems. I have personally notice with the D3 cisco modems higher downstream SNR readings, and even the current motorola SB6180 has 40 or above downstream snr readings. Which I am guessing has to do with it being 8x4, and the chipset being used. Since I do remember with my first D3 modem the 6120, my downstream snr readings were 37-38db.
