Re: What could this be? Did you clean out those old video drivers real well with something like Drive Sweeper before you installed your new card? |

Edit: MS IE doesn't run properly either, but Firefox and GChrome run fine. IE seems to hang up, takes forever to load a page. |

When switching between ati (amd) and nvidia video cards it is still recommended to use driver cleaner. (especially on XP) Driver updates, and hardware changes from the same manufacturer are fine.
Since you have issues with IE I would next ask how old is this install of windows?
You didn't specify what version of windows but since you mention a 4850 I would assume this is XP. My recommendation would be that if driver cleaner does not fix it, wipe and re-install windows if you are running Vista or XP.
At this point I highly doubt it is a hardware issue.
XP is quite susceptible to windows ageing, Vista is also somewhat susceptible from what I've heard. So far win7 seems to nixed he issue. For XP and installing and removing lots of games, driver updates, and all those hot fixes weird issues crop up. I used to reinstall XP every 2-3 years because of this. (Nlite is a HUGE help.) |

I would normally agree and previous to my last card I never used Drive Sweeper either. I have always had Nvidia and never had a problem just sticking a new card in with my existing drivers. On my most recent card, I went to a 570 from a 275 and absolutely could not get rid of intermittent issues until I cleaned the drivers out. |
