Re: [Cable] Stop Sell Areas (May 29th 2012)

How bad is Scarlett? I have a Canada Computers starter kit and I believe I can still sign up even with a stop sell in place?

Thanks!

Obviously it's bad otherwise it wouldn't be under a stop sell.

I thought the point of a stop sell was to prevent things from getting bad, no? As someone who is on Scarlett, I can attest to it being fine, even during peak hours. There is no significant congestion.

It's dependent on when the stop sell is put into place, on some POIs the stop sell was put into place to late for it to be effective but on others it was put in place so that end users would not be as affected by congestion.

Are those kits still good? They were discontinued almost half a year ago before the price increase.

@162.53.28.x

That was going to be my second question

I bought this last year looking to subscribe with Teksavvy once I moved to my new house. I signed up for the Bell Fibe 25 trial kit (4 months for $10) and it is now about to expire, so I was looking to use the starter kit. I got the Thompson 475 DOCSIS 3.0 modem with the kit but I haven't to date opened it yet.

Anyone know if I can still sign up on a plan using this? I believe the kit waived startup costs + 1 free month of service.

Thanks!

Thanks for the helpful fact-based response, chaos.

What speeds are like during peak hours? I'm looking to switch from Bell Fibe 25 service (I get a steady 25mbps/7mbps upload 24/7) to the 28mbps service. The drastic change will be the 1mbps upload vs 7mbps but I think it will be off-set with the higher bandwidth and potentially faster download speeds.

Best bet is to call Teksavvy and ask them. I imagine you should still be able to sign up using the starter kit.

During peak hours I consistently get 28 Mbps. With all the upgrades nearly complete, you should always get advertised speeds. »blogs.teksavvy.com/2012/05/23/ou···r-order/
