It means that you've become big enough to be noticed by the bad guys.
Great that the attack was squashed so quickly! |

 | reply to pertman I checked my account at Anveo and mine does not seem to be compromised at all.
Where in Anveo's website did you get that information from? |

| I know it's not the same, but I was just hoping to make sure not everyone's accounts are compromised once it's DDoS'ed. DDoS stands for Distributed Denial of Service.
Do note that some criminals can do way more than just DDoSing the website. We will never know.
It's a good thing DDoS got squashed, though. -- Phone: Yealink SIP-T22P + CSipSimple in Optimus V Phone System: Asterisk 10.1; Server: Debian Sid+Exp
I'm in heaven with VoIP except for 3G wireless. |

It's a good thing DDoS got squashed, though. Well they caught the DDOS so hopefully they would keep watch and double check for anything else happening. I was just making sure everyone didn't get in an instant panic thinking DDOS had to mean all accounts are now compromised and Anveo must be covering up more to it. Plus a DDOS attack has nothing to do with the security or lack thereof of any website or service. Once it happens it can be mitigated usually upstream where there is enough bandwidth to do so. |

The folks who work to compromise sites and gain access to information tend not to participate in activities that would trigger security reviews like (d)DoS attacks.
It's just counterproductive to the end goal. |

DDOS is like a malicious type of flash mob.
Intrusion activities OTOH are designed to gather and/or destroy information, in a way so as to avoid detection (totally or for as long as possible). |
