| Why I like DSLReports There's a thread over at the "forum which shall not be named" about mediaroom. I pm'd a link to the mediaroom thread here to a telus guy who's there. I knew I would not be allowed to post it, but here's what it did to the link in the pm: »www.***************/forum/r27...···room-2.1. Thumbs down! |

Could be the settings for blacklisting what can be posted is global across the whole forum software and therefore also covers pm's even if that wasn't their intent to do so.
If they actually setup the software to do that they aren't very smart. If a user sent me a pm with a link that was blocked I would be even more interested in the link then if it wasn't blocked. I would end up sending a reply and requesting the user s-p-e-l-l out the link.
I consider it terrible form to run a forum like that. I can understand doing it when it is a direct competitor and a for profit business. One of the large well known Canadian computer stores has a forum and you aren't allowed to post links to other computer stores.
I consider that fair as they are a for profit computer store and much of the forum links to their products. Still people get around it with stuff like "I went back to the future to do some shopping"/"After eating my eggs for breakfast I did a little online shopping" |

Took me 2 yrs to earn my ban, for breaking an unpublished, nowhere-written rule (and pointing out that this rule I was alleged to have broken didn't apparently exist in any publicly-readable place) about correcting a mod's erroneous english-language comprehension of a simple word.
My initial inquiry into what I did that earned me the ban was first responded to by some adolescent-acting mod who had no knowledge of what was going on but could nonetheless not resist the urge to tell me what I did wrong. It was sort of embarrassing to watch, really.
The funniest part though was the rant by another not-involved mod, who must just have watched Nicholson's 'You can't handle the truth' speech from A Few Good Men.
Priceless! |

XT0RTS3x, Drugs, War join:2001-07-28 Edmonton, AB | You talking about the 'emo mods' (Bell Store reps) in the Bell section? Been there, done that. |
|
 | The worst guy over at hofo in the bell mobility forum is a bell rep from the center of the known universe, aka, toronto, who is nothing but a bell shill. |
