| [STB] channels in 1000's cause box reboot We just got our first set of channels in the 1000 range this past week, we never had above 999 before...
something bad happend though, on any of the RNG or Sci Atl / Cisco boxes in our house when you go to the guide, and select one of them, the box crashes and goes right back to AppDn (on the Cisco boxes that still have the LED screens you can see that) try again, same result
doing this on 3 boxes, but our tivo doesn't have this problem... guide bug?... if so wouldn't they of caught that a while ago before going to 1000's in Sci Atl areas? |

telcodad join:2011-09-16 Lincroft, NJ kudos:2 | Didn't have that problem here with our newer Cisco RNG boxes when they introduced 4-digit channel numbers with our World-of-More HD upgrade last November.
Haven't heard if anyone with older SA boxes had an issue here, though.
Could it have something to do with the channel guide version in your area? We had version S25 when the 4-digit channels were first added, and then later received the S25 patch. |

 | reply to neufuse When I put in your zip code (15701), I get 3 systems (Blairsville, Elderton, Starford). Which system are you on, and what systems are getting these channels? Are all of them?
And why does a fairly small area have 3 headends? Did Comcast have a legacy territory and then never really combine the Adelphia headend? I know Indiana was formerly Adelphia, as was all the areas of Cambria County next door. |

telcodad join:2011-09-16 Lincroft, NJ kudos:2 | reply to telcodad These 4-digit channel numbers apparently follow a standardized "Master Channel Lineup" (MCLU) that Comcast has developed. Many of the new HD channels that were additions with the "World of More" upgrades have channel numbers in the 1000's.
This has also been discussed in some previous threads: »Standardized cable lineups coming soon »Master Channel Line Up »[HD] Channels in the 200 Range
I don't know how close Comcast is in rolling this out nationally, but here is what was said in a response on Feb. 14, 2011 to a question in the Comcast Voices blog entry on the new channel guide (»blog.comcast.com/2010/01/new-gui···r.html):
Comcast is in the process of creating one Master Channel Lineup for all Comcast markets. This means that most networks will have the same channel number, regardless of what part of the country the Comcast subscriber lives in. This project is rolling out market by market in a phased approach.
Phase one of that project is that we are moving new and existing HD channels into the 1000's channel range and introducing 4 digit channel numbers.
Phase two will see the channels being re-aligned into genre-based locations.
Comcast continues to add new and exciting programming content to our digital video channel lineup, including HD channels made available through the "World of More" program.
To ensure customers get the full value of all programming content, Comcast is realigning channels into logical, genre based locations. This channel realignment will help customers find the content they want easier.
I don't know if anyone has this Master Channel Lineup yet (like in Philadelphia? It was also said that few systems in Indiana would be testing it back in June 2010), but here is a list of some non-premium, HD channels with 4-digit numbers that I have compiled from my own system and other's posts so far:
1216 Bloomberg 1217 C-SPAN 1218 News12 1225 BBC America 1231 Crime & Investigation 1232 ID 1262 Nat Geo Wild 1265 Smithsonian Channel 1271 H2 1281 Cooking Channel 1291 DIY 1307 Hallmark 1315 Jewelry TV 1316 TV Guide Entertainment 1318 EWTN 1325 Game Show Network (GSN) 1334 Oxygen 1345 Ovation 1368 Galavision 1407 CMT 1505 Sprout 1511 The Hub 1512 Fox Soccer 1513 GOL TV 1556 EWTN 1621 MavTV 1630 Outdoor Channel 1631 Sportsman Channel 1632 World Fishing Network 1712 NBA TV 1717 GOL Soccer 1862 IndiePlex |

1 edit | reply to neufuse Got two whole HD channels in Baltimore last year and lost remaining analogs. Nothing so far this year. No four-digit channel numbers.
The message about needing digital equipment was finally removed from limited basic channel numbers this week. Cable went out for several hours early Thursday morning because of "technical issues related to a piece of equipment," whatever that means. |
|
 | reply to telcodad telcodad, if you want to see the 1000 numbering, look at most of the lineups round Indianapolis, the lineups in Tennessee, Arkansas and Mississippi, and Connecticut. There are a few variations in the numbers.
The announced numbers for EWTN HD, Fox Soccer HD and GolTV HD in Williamsport, PA are all different than the ones used on the Philadelphia system. |

| reply to osravens you only get three? I get more then that when I enter 15701....
Comcast Blairsville CableCard Comcast Blairsville Digital Comcast Blairsville Rebuild Area Comcast Blairsville Rebuild Digital Comcast Blairsville Standard
Comcast Rural Valley CableCard Comcast Rural Valley Digital Comcast Rural Valley Standard
Comcast Punxsutawney CableCard Comcast Punxsutawney Digital Comcast Punxsutawney Standard
Comcast Starford Digital
Comcast Elderton Digital
I'm pretty sure they shut the old adelphia equipment down when comcast did the system rebuild (blairsville digital rebuild area) when they did that we went 100% digital |
|
 | I was using Zap2It. I find different results from some others. XfinityTV site has just Blairsville and Rural Valley.
To me, looking at them, it doesn't seem to make much sense to have Elderton and Starford separate, just combine them all into the Blairsville system, which is the one I assume you're on. |

Up to 1099, the HD channels will vary by the local market, and the rest that you listed do seem to follow the genre groupings that were supplied by "Ken H" in the AVSForum (»www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthre···18576965 ):
All channels will be grouped by genre.
- 99 and Below: Will remain the same with channel numbers decided by the local market. All channels in this range will be replicated in higher channel numbers.
- 100's: News, Local, and Public Service, Educational, Government.
- 200's: General Entertainment and Lifestyle cable channels (FX, TNT, Discovery, etc)
- 300's: General Entertainment and Lifestyle cable channels (Lifetime, A&E, TLC, shopping channels etc)
- 400's: Music Channels
- 500's: Kids and Religious channels
- 600's and 700's: Sports
- 800's: Movies and PPV
- 900's: Premium channels
- HD channels will move to the 1000's with the same channel number as the SD version + 1000.
- International Channels will be in the 2000's.
