Wireless STB and Xbox Live Gaming

So I've had U-verse for about a month, and for the most part everything works as intended. I'm on the 32/5 profile with 24Mbps internet.

My only complaint is everytime I start playing Modern Warfare 3 online and my wife is down stairs watching TV on the wireless STB, the TV picture goes out and won't work until I stop playing. If my wife is watching TV on the wired DVR in the master bedroom while I am playing everything works great.

Anybody have the same issue? Any ideas as to why this may be happening?

I heard a rumor that the 360 Wireless controllers run on a similar/the same frequency as the WiFi STBs

Might try gaming with a wired 360 controller & see if that makes a difference

The controller itself isn't the problem. The Uverse wireless box uses the 5Ghz band and the Xbox controller uses 2.4. You might have some other peripheral device that causes interference on the 5Ghz band (like a wireless headset). How is your Xbox connected to the Uverse RG? Do you use a 3rd party router or access point?

The xbox is connected to the RG by cat 5. I do have a Turtle Beach wireless headset...

If you power cycle the Cisco access point for the TV while your headset is on, it might sniff the interference and space its broadcast accordingly, or similarly if the headset has a channel change feature. More than likely the headset is the culprit. I'd Google the model and see if it uses the 5Ghz band.
