RyanThaDudeIndiana's 1 Zero join:2004-01-24 Walkerton, IN | [IN] Frequent outages What the hell is going on in Indiana? We are currently on our third major widespread outage in less than two weeks! This is getting really ridiculous.
Between this and the double-charging of a modem (net/phone) I really think its time to check out DSL and dish in our area again. Absolutely unreliable! |

 | What part of Indiana? North Webster area here with outage as well..
(Posting this from AT&T cellular data modem connected to router) |

RyanThaDudeIndiana's 1 Zero join:2004-01-24 Walkerton, IN | Thanks Chad. Whoever was handling the Twitter last night sent me a DM but couldn't send my info back since you can't DM someone who isn't following you.
I just thought it was odd to have a fiber cut on Sunday night. Who the hell's digging at that hour? |

 | reply to RyanThaDude Ours has went out probably five times in the last two weeks, each time for about four to five hours. Luckily i was able to keep busy outside but others in the house went nuts lol.

You may need to power cycle your router to get it to pull an IP address. The video issues should be resolved now, let me know if you still are having issues with the television service. |

 | reply to RyanThaDude Fiber isn't always buried underground, in many areas it's stretch on telephone poles for long distances. A car crashing into a pole can easily take down the electricity and fiber. Electricity outages are much more local, but sometimes even major fiber backbones have a single point of failure. |

Re: Frequent outages I feel your pain. All Mediacom customers' pain -- there are many sufferers out there.
In my area, south Alabama, there are constant Mediacom service interruptions and regular outages. The service here is UNLIKE any I've previously experienced with cable TV or cable Internet. The company seems like an under-financed start-up company that's in its death spiral - but of course it's not a start-up. But it evidently is horribly under-financed.
What else could it be? Are the people running it just stupid idiots? If it's not a money problem, why else would a CEO allow a company to operate as it does? Mediacom is an offense to the Cable Community and to the normal cable providers who deliver regular, unproblematic service.
With each Mediacom outage, interruption, and scheduled maintenance period I stand an extremely high chance of losing my connection altogether. It's happened again!!! I can no longer connect, except through my neighbor's wireless.
I'm going to HAVE TO migrate over to Century Link DSL. I have no choice. I need to have reliable Internet service. And Mediacom can't deliver it. After 12 months plus with Mediacom it will be a happy relief to know that I can count on having a working connection pretty much 24/7 with Century Link.
Shame, shame Mediacom..... shame on you. |

1 edit | Anyone else loose cable/internet service? (6/6/12 ~01:30 ET) Indiana (or my local node) is down again.
Thankfully I don't have to count on Mediacom for reliable service... I'm not really trying to complain as much as I'm curious if this is a widespread or local issue? |

 | Thanks.
I was starting to wonder if my SB5100 was starting to flake out. Guess I'll wait until it actually goes bad... |

Re: [IN] Frequent outages @MediacomSupport at Twitter said it was a scheduled maintenance. Why isn't this stuff posted, preferably in a easy location such as Twitter/Facebook/etc. so we can work around it instead of just "turning it off" and having us bitch and moan. You know some of us can be a little more understanding when it's posted.
Another thing I noticed was that the last tweet from Support was minutes before the internet went out, then not a word from them until an hour or so after it came back. Coincidence? |

(..snip..) this is where theyl direct you to »mediacomcable.com/CustomerSupport/ where you put in your zip code, and hopefully you dont get a page like i get
 seriously?
they really need to fix this, i quit bothering to check because clicking all of those "albany ga" was just, frankly, stupid. i get that because of the way there setup they have seperate "sections" but for crying out loud, replace the "select" with a little + mark (i.e. expand) to simply expand an info window, it really shouldn't be that hard to do. or hell have them auto expanded all ready! i mean its not like im asking them to take a proactive approach with say RSS.. |

 | reply to RyanThaDude It's been slow all day here, and has been during the day for the last two weeks. 1-2 mbps. When 1 or 2 am rolls around we jump back to 10-13 mbps. I was off work today so i didn't catch what time it came back this morning, slept in too late. |
|
 | reply to RyanThaDude Looks like we're out again as of 1:20 am edt. |

1 edit | reply to RyanThaDude Outage again here too ~0130ET (6/7/12).
