Re: [TWC] Cisco 8640 HDC not recording to end of programs

I watched a season finale earlier this week - was scheduled from 8 p.m. to 9:03 p.m. Definitely a ratings ploy and of course interfered with viewing (or recording) a program on competing network beginning at 9 p.m.

I wouldn't be surprised if it has something to do with trying to increase their nielsen ratings in some way.

This is a broadcaster issue running slow or fast, out of TWC's control, no provider's equipment knows exactly when the show is starting other then its scheduled start time on the hour at X:00:00.

Seems to me that the conflict you detailed ought to tell you one of the programs is playing fast and loose with the time, and thus it's not a "box" problem.
I specifically recall that my recording of "Big Bang Theory" ran over every week by about a minute. I don't know why this occurred and it isn't happening this year. Perhaps it is a network test to see if they can improve ratings of the following show.

program starts recording at 7pm exactly I see the red light go on....recording ends at 8pm I see the red light go out. The guide says program runs from 7 to 8 pm but when you go to watch the recording the last minute is missing. If you add and additional minute to the recording and your are recording from 8 to 9 pm there is a conflict if you are watching tv...there are only 2 tuners....

its recording 59 minutes of a 60 minute program...Ex: Law and Order is on most nights on 1301 .If you record 2 shows in a row...the last minute of the first show is in the second recording and the last minute of the second show is not recorded...Is this a problem of cable or the box??? if its the box i will just replace

What does what the guide have for the programs start and stop time? Do those times actually match the actual start and stop times?

For example:
Guide says 7:00pm-8:00pm
Program runs 6:59pm-7:59pm

This sort of mismatch has been more common by the broadcasters over the last few years.

If it's important, back it up... twice. Even 99.999% availability isn't enough sometimes.

Is it recording 59 minutes of 60 or is the show overrunning by a minute?

Hob

I've seen overruns many times on 30 minute sitcoms. Sometimes I wonder if it's planned, just to mess with those wishing to bypass commercials.

My Cisco 8640 does not record the end of programs usually it leaves the last minute of the program off. If I add 1 minute to the recording time, it interferes with the next recording if you are not watching tv.I dont understand what is going on, its supposed to record with the setting of time needed but leaves off the last minute ...Do I need a truck roll for a new box? thanks
