 | Wifi in USG 20w I'm thinking about replacing my aging 2WG with USG20W. How is the wifi in 20W? I still have some 802.11g devices - will they slow down the rest? |

1 edit | Slow what? Other wireless clients or the whole box? ...It shouldn't neither. If you run b/g on n device there's very minor slowdown, but not really noticeable.
Check the table here if USG20W is good fit for you »USG series FW 3.00 Comparison (mind the advertised firewall speeds are both ways, for one way cut those numbers in half and subtract I'd say about 15% to get to real speed (the test is done with large UDP packets, your typical communication is mostly TCP on smaller packets)). |

| reply to lacibaci I'm happy with my USG20W in general and the wifi seems to work fine for me. I use the unit in a home environment, though, in which I and occasional guests are the only users. And I only use it for my laptop on the occasion I take it home and for the blu-ray movie player and a few other devices like unto the blu-ray device. So I can't really comment on throughput.
I thought I read in the manual that having a 802.11g device connected does slow speeds of 802.11n devices, but I could be confusing this unit with one of the others so I'm not sure about that. Brano would certainly know more than I. But you can pick any combo of b, g and n devices to allow to connect and that would tend to make me believe my memory isn't fading.  |

It really depends on physical WiFi implementation, but in worst case the slowdown would be only when the g devices are actively transmitting. When g devices are in idle state the n devices should be able to reach max. n speeds (depend on distance and wifi noise of course). |
