Beef join:2012-05-16 027054 kudos:1 | reply to Beef Runic has been actively patching the heck out of TL2 over the extended beta weekend. I think about 8-10 patches?
Last night I found they had done a patch, to improve targeting issues among other things.
The targeting is now definitely better than what it was but still needs some tweaking.
I beat the BETA on Elite mode with one of my buds. It was very difficult, I think we each died about 5 times a piece on the final boss.
Grinding for unique gear is awesome. We were both playing Bezerkers playing him very differently.
The TL2 skill trees may not make the most sense initially, but you will need to take time to study them to figure them out.
Additionally, the skill trees, and your choices into them become much more critical on Veteran/Elite mode vs. normal mode.
On normal mode you can pick retarded specs and get away with it. |

 Beef join:2012-05-16 027054 kudos:1 2 edits | reply to Beef I have to admit
I am getting really burnt waiting on TL2, almost to the point of getting turned off to it
right now I am looking at playing:
Tera - F2P (with chronoscrolls) GW2 - F2P Diablo 3 - F2P LoL - F2P (if I get back into it)
The room to play is very limited.
TL2 is moddable, can be played offline, and can be played over LAN. None of which I really care about.
TL2 progression is questionable since you can level in easy mode or elite mode. So what's the point of playing elite mode?
Runic needs to hurry up or im not going to bother at all. TL2 is just going to get lost in the shuffle of GW2 and MoP... end of summer release is turning out to be the worst thing ever for them
and path of exile is 100% F2P, and it's playable this weekend!
oh noes runic! |
|
 | reply to Beef I agree with you Beef, I was hopeing TL2 would come out as a filler until GW2 came out. But with GW2 coming out in 4ish weeks, might just save my 20 bucks... |

| reply to Beef Considering this posted in their forums, I'm totally okay waiting an extra month since the game is supposed to be about 4 times bigger than TL1:
Torchlight 1 has:
*7 Unique areas (not counting secret areas or Phase Beast areas, or random maps ) *52 Unique monster variants ( this does not count champion variants ) *47 total monster abilities ( this does not count boss abilities - this is for the rank and file ) *9 bosses/boss battles *About 33 unique wardrobe sets *About 230 unique weapon models *About 60 unique player skills ( not counting spells ) *About 330 room layouts for assembling levels ( these are subrandomized as well ) *About 730 item affixes *About 3080 items ( although this includes the goofy 'replicated' elite items that we used to stretch out the content - so a more accurate number is probably about 2000 ) *15 music tracks *About 83 monster models ( not counting bosses or NPCs - there are more models than unique monsters because this includes player pets, summons, variants, and a few other odds and ends ) *1860 room pieces ( the raw props used to build levels ) *1612 animation files *2778 texture files
------------------------------------------------------------------
Torchlight 2 has:
*44 Unique areas (not counting secret areas or Phase Beast areas, or random maps ) *183 Unique monster variants ( this does not count champion variants, of which there are MANY more than Torchlight 1 ) *148 total monster abilities ( this does not count boss abilities or champion abilities - this is for the rank and file ) *27 bosses/boss battles *About 85 unique wardrobe sets *About 395 unique weapon models *About 120 unique player skills ( not counting spells) *About 1200 room layouts for assembling levels (these are subrandomized as well) *About 1344 item affixes *About 5773 items (no goofy item replication!) *62 music tracks *About 300 monster models - not counting bosses or NPCs (There are often visual variants to a single monster type, for spice, or champion variants) *5665 room pieces (the raw props used to build levels) *5329 animation files *5444 texture files

 TL1 vs TL2 |
A direct comparison taken from TL2 site. Beef, we may need to get a dslr clan for this game considering how lacking D3 is. Also, is it true TL is made by the designers of D2 that left Blizz? -- I am stating my opinion. Obviously you don't like it. Honestly, I don't care. |

he worked on Diablo 2 along with others, they left, worked on another Diablo type game (forget what its called)... mythos?
mythos got shut down, so max started Runic
Runic(developer) was baught by Perfect World (publisher)
Perfect World owns many dev companies. The ultimate long term goal is the F2P Torchlight MMORPG... which will be awesome |
