HP Deskjet 3050A Sleep Mode

Another thing I just noticed is that on my router Setup Web page it shows a list of IP Addresses connected to the wireless router, well I will see the static ip that I gave the printer on there but then all of a sudden it will go from that IP to 0.0.0.0 as an IP, then after a little while it will go back to the static IP I gave, it does this off and on, but on the printer it shows that it is still connected to the network, the IP address thing seems to happen whether it is in sleep mode or not, but it lets me access the Printers IP web page even when the IP shows up as 0.0.0.0, while not in sleep mode, and the printer is the only thing that does this IP thing. Under setup (the wrench above the on/off button) there is no submenu for auto power off?

Forget that I'm reading in the manual that auto off has no effect on sleep mode and that the 5 min is not adjustable. I'll look into it more later.

Yeah, thanks for looking into it, I have searched and searched and not found a solution to the problem, it works fine while not in sleep but while in sleep it hardly works at all, there has got to be a solution to it, because this is a major problem, I wonder if it is something with my network?

When you set up the static ip did you make sure that you assigned an ip that is outside of the dhcp range of your router?

The default dhcp range, according to the manual for your cradlepoint mbr1000, is

192.168.0.100-192.168.0.199

You don't want to assign a static ip from within this range, maybe put it above the top of that range.

or whatever range you have changed it to if you altered the default dhcp range.

Oh yeah, it is well into the 200 range well outside of the dchp range, and I noticed when I got home last night I tried to get into the routers webpage and it loaded very fast and it was in sleep mode, and this morning it was working normally but then I tried to load it again and it wouldn't load, that isn't an internet connection error because I can go to any other site it is just the printers IP that gives me trouble. It happens a lot more when it is in sleep mode though.

I don't know. It could be that there is some interference or that the signal is weak. It may not like being where it is relative to the router. You might try moving it to a different location. How is it located relative to your router? Is it a different room but nearby, a different floor of the house, across the house?

Have you confirmed that it has no such issues coming out of sleep if connected directly via usb and that it is only a wireless issue?

I believe that this issue is mainly just happening in sleep mode, it works all the time when it is not in sleep mode, it has very good signal to the router it switches between 4 and 5 bars and is in a different room but only about 30ft. away, I haven't hooked it up directly via USB but the problem is network related because the IP drops to 0.0.0.0 and scan to computer stops working and the routers IP wep page will not respond.

Anyone else have any ideas?

Thanks for trying, it appears that I am going to have to give in and call HP support tommorow, I went to there support page yesterday and I went through the troubleshooting with no resolution, I selected that the printer wouldn't maintain wireless connection and it actually said that one of the reasons could be the printer going into sleep mode, but had no answers on how to fix the sleep mode thing. Anyone else have a similar problem like this before? Thanks.

Let us know if you come up with something. I am interested in knowing the outcome and how you fix it.
