| Inland Empire Question: About to sign up for cable modem with TWC but wanted to know a few things
1) What is the best available modem to purchase. I don't want to rent
2) Should I buy the cable modem with WIFI or better to get that via Netgear / Linksys Router and just focus on the motorola modem?

kudos:1 | Best modem for your app is the Motorola SB6141, and it costs around $75 on Amazon. It is also a TWC approved customer modem. I am thinking of replacing my SB4100 with this modem.
Normally, TWC does not charge a modem rental fee, but if you are on the new discounted tiers for new customers, then yes you will have to pay a rental fee.
I would get a separate router as you tend to get a better router. I have a WNDR3700v1 with DD-WRT and I quite like it. Both Linksys and Netgear make great routers. Some say the Linksys E4200 is good, but I do not have any experience with the newer Linksys routers.

Seems like Motorola SB6141 is discontinued or something. Not on Motorola website and not on amazon for sell anymore..
