 | reply to DrStrangLov Wildblue Value back (512 kb/s down, 128 kb/s up). Because the results are so unusual, I repeated them twice with both the new and old versions of Test My Network. The upload results were the same both times. My upload speed is pathetic. The download speed test showed my download at about twice the maximum and the second, showed it near the rated speed. Prime time slowdown has been lessening since March but has not completely disappeared.

Could be your TRIA shooting craps; someone suggested putting something cold on it....but if that test was done in late evening hours there, I assume lower temperatures |

 | reply to DrStrangLov I suspected you would blame my equipment instead of Wildblue's gateway for my slow upload speed. Task Manager showed a quick burst of data was uploaded and then nothing for 5 to 10 seconds before another quick burst. There were no dropped packets in the ping test which further restricts the possible causes. Either Test My Network's software was malfunctioning, or the Riverside Gateway was having difficulty allocating upload time slots. |

Sometimes, when looking at 360p Youtube video during later primetime (8:30 PM CDT and later), it will stop for some 10 to 45 seconds, then ka-boom, the rest will be loaded very quickly.
If you do a speed test at this Phoenix server, you can see what is going on: »www.ispcompared.com/internet-speed-test.htm
Click on Speed (Top), then test result |
