 | [CenturyTel] CenturyLink's phone tech support is some of the wor I called them about an issue that started where suddenly all my ping rates where about tripped putting them up in the triple digits on even the first hop past my modem/router combo.
They ran me through the steps, told me nothing was wrong and assured me it would go down in 48 hours, no change and speeds continued to drop horribly, called back, ran through the same steps, the guy said the port I was plugged into at the framework was bad or something like that, asked me my number said he would call back after he had looked into getting it fixed.
Now it's almost two weeks later and I've tried calling several times, they run me through the steps, ask me to wait for something that they will call back on or assure me it will be fixed in 48 hours, but nothing every time.
I call back and they claim the guy before them took no notes and they run me through the process again, as time as passed the connection has slowly gotten worse and worse with the ping raising and the speed dropping, yet they refuse to help. I can't wait until I'm out of contract so I can dump this service. |

We pay for 10 mb, but between 4pm and midnight, i must be happy if i get 2mb tops. and every time when i call i need to do those same steps over and over. and they even say everything is fine sir, no its not fine. After they do something, it works for 24 hours, and then i have some problem agian, now my ping is 418 i can not even play a online game, because of my lag issues. Can not wait to cancel my contract, because centurylink SUCKS BIG TIME! |

Once you show them smokeping graphs and other tests, they won't be playing that tune anymore.
You also have to tell them that you're always connected directly to the modem (they'll blame your router), you've tried 3 different modems (they'll blame your modem), and you run (_insert any linux kernel here), because of course they'll blame your infected windows OS. That along with smokeping graphs.. and maybe terminating your connection at the BAS/BRAS and then running some more latency tests, they'll be digging fiber and deploying new remotes in your area within the year. lol |
