Connecticut is "Open for Business" --NOT!

Apparently the state is now protecting big businesses against small ones who wish to come in from out of state:

Instead of investing in infrastructure, they should have donated to a few local political campaigns.

Very interesting case. If memory serves, moving & storage truckers are the only ones left who have to publish tariffs & gain authority to operate, like back in the days prior to deregulation, when the ICC decided every carrier's fate. Almost all carriers had to get very expensive permissions to do business, except for those hauling exempt commodities. Apparently the CT DOT now handles what the ICC used to do for "bed bugs" ? Apparently the reporter does not know or chose not to print the hows and whys of moving and storage operating authority, tariffs and regulations. I also very strongly question the statement that the other carriers did not offer formal protest.

Tariffs and operating authorities had fairly evaporated by the time I became involved in that industry, so my knowledge of it is sketchy. Regulated transportation did have certain benefits - the entire US airline industry did not operate at a loss back then.

The guy said: "I just can't believe that we're that anti-business," Connair said. "I don't know what kind of mentality makes this happen."

I don't think finding that "kind of mentality" would require a search warrant.
