| [DSL] New Modem for DSL 25 Mbit? I gave TekSavvy CSR a call to see if the 25 Mbit DSL connection is available in my area (K1K 0B7 in Ottawa, and apparently it isn't to my dismay, even though Bell's website shows their 25mbit as available), and she doesn't have an ETA for it either. While I was on the phone, I decided to ask about the Cellpipe modem situation as well.
I phrased the question as "I've been hearing that the modem for the 25 Mbit service is troubled with a bad firmware which reboots the modem a few times each day. If I were to get a modem with the flakey firmware, I can just ask for a replacement right?" (I was pretty sure of the answer, but I just wanted to confirm it with a CSR.)
The CSR asked me if I was referring to the Cellpipe or the new modem with built-in router function.
Rather than pursuing that further (although I really should've asked more about that, in retrospect), I decided to inquire whether or not there was a way for me to get the 25 Mbit service since Bell's website shows their (Bell's) service as being available. The CSR told me that it was not possible as she couldn't select the 25 Mbit connection in the order form at my address.
Anyways, has anyone heard anything about this new modem+router? I wonder if it is the "temporary solution" that I saw a TSI rep mentioned in one of the Cellpipe thread.
If this is an old news, then I guess I'll use the thread to ask if anyone in and near Manor Park area has TekSavvy's 25 Mbit DSL connection. |

Btw the Cellpipe Bell is currently renting is a modem with built-in router and wireless functions. However it isn't very good at doing any of those function well. |

The only time that wouldn't be the case was if the 25 meg service at your address was via FTTH rather than copper. -- Developer: Tomato/MLPPP, Linux/MLPPP, etc »fixppp.org |

Bell could easily say that all the ports are full, but if they're not, and they're just reserving them for their own customers (wouldn't put it past them), then it would totally be. You'd have to prove it was the same remote somehow though. |

Condos from Bell's BES-for-condos VDSL projects are off-limits too unless they have metallic continuity to an external VDSL2 remote but I doubt Bell would be in a hurry to upgrade those neighborhoods. |
