Re: [Localphone] No setup fees on Incoming Numbers May 2012 On Localphone, you can show your desired caller ID to someone in your Contacts, by sending the call (with desired From header) to 8835100082688XX@sip.inum.net, as shown on the Local Numbers page when Location set to iNum. Of course, the From header must contain a verified number on your Localphone account. |

Uh, I've been doing this VOIP thing for awhile and not sure I understand the above, but to be more specific: I'd like to send a CID *not* associated with my localphone account, say my POTS CID.
But Stewart, if you care to be a bit more specific, this sounds like a neat approach, just probably need a bit more direction (or a link perhaps). -- --- U176 |

 | On Localphone Local Numbers page, under Settings, there is a section "Call from these phones". Click "Add another" and follow the prompts to add your POTS number. The POTS line will ring and you press 1 to confirm it is yours.
Then, set up your SIP device or software to send calls to the iNum corresponding to your contact, with the From header set to your POTS number. |

 | Quick question, does it support G.729? I checked their asterisk setup page and only G711 is listed.

I asked them about it months back and I was told they don't allow caller id spoofing. -- "Corporal...Ready the Canon." "Yes General" "...This one goes out to the one I love." "Yes General." "Canon aimed and ready, General." "Fire!" |
