Re: Looking at these old posts... I'd like to be optimistic but knowing Time Warner that plan probably involves standardizing a bandwidth cap across all markets and giving the Midwestern markets a uniform boring, milque toast white people channel lineup and letting the Northeast markets keep all the cool shit to themselves like NHK World HD, TV Japan HD, Sundance HD, etc.
The only thing I've seen Time Warner truly do identical across all their markets thus far has been something terrible - very restrictive "Copy Once" CCI 0x02 DRM flags on every single channel except the ones which the government will not allow them to place the DRM on - local channels.
They are the only cable provider in America that DRMs the channels so heavily. Not even Comcap is this bad about it. |

These have made their way out of the Northeast to a West region system:
Bloomberg HD (Don't know why it landed up on TWC Dallas maybe because we have a local stock exchange?) Ovation HD Fox Deportes HD (Only Carried in North Texas and NYC) Showtime Next HD Showtime Women HD Showtime Beyond HD REELZ HD Sportsman Channel HD (very few TWC systems have it and mine and some of the mountainous western systems do too) Halogen HD (Only on TWC North Texas they show their content natively as possible so they don't crop so some HD shows have bars on top and bottom. Fox Movie Channel HD (very limited availability available in the Mountain West systems (ID, WA) |
