Ether way not my fault.
And genraly if I do see a cop car ont he side I try to put a few lanes between the shoulder and me, but if there are to many other cars for that then well highbeams would be bad.

you would think there would be an integrated sensor that would automatically adjust the brightness. If my laptop, tablet and cellphone has it, why don't police lights?

Should be but that would cost tax payiers to much.
Just wire it to the head lights, if they're on then you get low power if the head lights are off then full power, much easier.

most police cars flash the headlights, but most modern cars have a headlight sensor.
