| When they had best of HD for $20 in January I switched from hdplus to best of hd.
For some reason in the personal tv/best of hd bundle, you could add phone on for 15/month. I have no idea why they charge so much more for it in the classic cable packages.
I got a note saying my personal tv/best of hd package was going up $5.
I don't get DW/Oasis, but all in all I think Personal TV/Best of HD/BB50/Phone Line for 124.90 a month isn't too bad. It would be $15 more if you subscribed to it right now though.... |

Kinda hilarious, cause they just locked them up again. I assume they are trying to increase subscription revenue.
Guess it didn't work if they increased the prices. :/ -- "You're not supposed to be so blind with patriotism that you can't face reality. Wrong is wrong, no matter who says it."-Malcolm X

murkyPremium join:2000-09-12 Eton, ON 1 edit | Shaw added 3 or 4 channels to the HD Plus package but they are either for children or just plain crap. They sure don't compensate for the $1 increase when they are of no interest How can a 19% increase be justified? Yes, the basic phone was an excellent price but that's why I dumped Bell. If I can get Bell's 3 services for $68 a month for 6 months as they just offered in a snail mail letter I may switch. The only thing holding me back is that I hate Bhell Insult to injury with regard to the phone: Shaw had an outage over a large area of my neighbourhood last Sunday and they knew nothing about it. They denied it despite 2 other neighbours having the same outage. Shades of Bhell all over again. |

They denied it despite 2 other neighbours having the same outage. Shades of Bhell all over again. First I'd compare it to bells regular pricing. I recently compared shaw's pricing to telus' pricing out here in the west. I wasn't really saving any money after the first 6 months. Telus doesn't seem to have any kind of hdplus/best of hd package. So to get the same amount of HD channels I'd have to order a megatonne of themepacks. It meant if I stayed with telus I'd pay more money for slower internet.. (after the first 6 months).
I think shaw just raised my bill. I was paying 119.90 for personal tv/best of hd/bb50/phone line. Not only is personal tv cheaper then basic (which is good if you don't give a crap about sd channels), but the phone line is only 15 a month when you're in a bundle with personal tv.
I tihnk they just raised my package by $5 so it'll be 124.90 now. That makes it 139.90 if you were a new customer. You'd be able to know 20 or 30 dollars off that if you didn't want a 50mbps internet package. It's not too bad. It beats why I seem to be able to get on telus' website.
Comparing regular prices to introductory prices doesn't quite paint the whole picture. |

murkyPremium join:2000-09-12 Eton, ON | Thanks for your reply and I've done as you suggested. Of course I'd be pretty short sighted to compare Bell's introductory offer to my current Shaw plan. Bell's $68 was for basic phone, tier 1 television and 6 mbps download & monthly cap of 25 gb. I would have to subscribe to tier 2 tv to get the channels I want. To shorten this up: Bell would be $12 more per month at normal pricing comparing apples to apples. I wouldn't get long distance at that price. If I made a call outside of Ontario there would be a network connection fee and 25 cents per minute. I guess I will live with the increase grin & bear it! |
