He actually ran 4 bots all day and all night. He sold the loot on e-bay to the tune of $30,000. Was a great little business for him until he got shut down. I'm not condoning botting, just telling the story. Probably Pindlebots. Pindleskin was a super-unique monster (read: always spawned in every game) in Act 5 of Diablo 2. Once you completed a certain quest, a portal would open to the area he spawned and you could walk 10 feet and kill him, loot, then exit the game, create a new one, rinse, repeat.
The appeal of Pindle was that he was easy to kill and his cLvL was ~85 in Hell, which meant he could drop 99.9% of the items in the game.
However, Blizzard has stated that there will no longer be super-unique garuntees anymore like there was in D2, mainly to avoid this.
Arch, if you are going to create an AH empire, I recommend heading over to www.diii.net. They have an optimal Magic Find strategy guide up right now, stating the best possible areas for loot per minute and how to run certain areas the fastest. Of course, right now it's only for the beta, but the theory's hold true and once the game goes live it will be updated.
Also, keep in mind that the best possible items in the game will generally come from Inferno mode with iLvL 63. This does not mean some Legendarys wont be OP. In D2, some of the best items were from Nightmare Mephisto (Vampire Gaze) or made with runes that could drop from high level NM/low level Hell monsters. |
