2 edits | 3rd generation Intel®Core153; i5-3450 processor (Ivy Bridge I don't play games. The Ivy Bridge has a beefed up GPU. Would it be cost affective to upgrade to a NVIDIA® GeForce® GT 620 [add $50.00] or stay with the Intel® HD Graphics 2500 [Included in Price] TIA |

 | Re: 3rd generation Intel®Core153; i5-3450 processor (Ivy Bri Since, you dont play games. I wouldn't get that video card. It is very very slight improvement. You better of staying and invest is something better later on. |

Anon | reply to spookypuff66 I don't see any reason to go with a card. What are you hoping it will do for you? |

It's also about saving power and keeping computer cool. Usually graphic cards tend to use a lot of power and even sometimes require a special cooling system... So, if you don't need it for games - don't take it. -- Keep it simple, it'll become complex by itself... |

Bottom line unless you are gaming or using GPU power some other way (distributed computing, 3d rendering) the Intel graphics these days are more than adequate. The days when integrated gfx were crap even at basic tasks like video playing and web browsing are over. |

Anon | reply to spookypuff66 The integrated intel graphics should be perfectly fine for watching HD video or any non game uses. None of the graphics card options are going to give a drastically different look to your screen after you have set it up properly. If there is something about the images on your screen that you don't like, tell us what it is, and we will try to help you tweak things so you can get the look you want. If your screen seems too bright or washed out, the contrast or white balance seems wrong, or you suddenly don't like the way your photos look with the new driver then it is a matter of getting settings right, or recalibrating, not of the particular card you have. |
