Check your IP block registration info on ARIN. It may be a newly acquired block that hasn't had its info updated to TSI yet (it may still appear to be registered to someone outside of Canada).

That could be a good thing. Go and watch all U can from the U.S. while you're able

Hmm, I wonder what the issue is then? Video plays fine in one location and not in another with same browser just different internet.

Maybe it's because I have Windows 8? Gonna try it on my Prime and post back.

Edit - Well apparently that content can't be played on a mobile browser (terrible) so I can't test on something other than Windows 8 on my internet.

OP, by chance are you running Windows 8?

I stream citytv on my BB playbook all the time.

I also can't stream just from citytv.com. Talked to Teksavvy and they said it was the ip issue and that citytv probably hasn't updated whatever ip i'm using to say it's canadian.

They said I can either wait or contact citytv. I'v written to citytv's general inquiries email, but I'm not gonna hold my breath for a response.

Not sure what else to do but wait.

If TSI confirmed that it was a IP registry issue there's nothing CityTV can do about. Due to licensing restrictions they can't allow anyone outside of Canada to access the material, and they use IP registration info to determine that. You'll have to wait for TSI to update the info or work around it by using like a VPN service with a Canadian endpoint.

The problem is the IP registrations all show they're Canadian IPs.

I'm just going by what tech support told Tmac:

It's possible he's on a different IP block than you.

Of course it could be a bunch of other causes like routing issues. Browser settings, etc...

It played fine for me out in BC. Teksavvy 6mbit DSL - Windows 7 x64, Firefox 12/Chrome/Opera. (Adblocking enabled where possible.)

Heh... I can remember when I used to be able to watch Hulu on Teksavvy. It took them nearly 6 months to figure out I was in Canada. Strange, since every geolocation service that I tried said it was a Canadian/Chatham IP.

Just an update, I checked citytv the other day, and I now have no issues streaming. Whatever the issue was, it was fixed for me.

Hi there, I just found this thread. I have been having the same problem on all my computers since the day we changed over to TSI from Rogers. My laptop at work streams CityTV video just fine, but as of the change day, stopped at home. I contacted TSI numerous times, and they were unable to help... I get the same as others with just a black screen.

Recently, I tried again, and rather than just a black screen, I get "This player is unable to play this protected content at this time" According to Citytv, this means that my browser is not accepting the DRM cookie from "Brightcove" Following their instructions I am still unable to access it, in any browser. Using ARIN, it shows my IP is in Canada and owned by Teksavvy.

This problem continues on all computers in the house and is very frustrating!! TSI suggested I ping and traceroute the video site at citytv and found no problems. Any other ideas??? thanks!

Had the same issue since Nov/2011 as per this thread:

»[Cable] Teksavvy cable and CityTV video streaming

About 2 weeks ago, I made the unfortunate decision to try Linux on my system with a dual boot option. Didn't really like it and uninstall borked my hard drive mbr which I could not recover. So I had to do a clean install of XP complete with a full reformat of the drive. One upside to this is that CityTV now steams without issue. I am slowly installing the programs and apps I was using to get me back to where my system was before the big snafu.

Will let you know if and when it stalls out again and what program/app/update might be the cause.
