Re: Teksavvy Stop sell on Phone Transfers

Well I am now officially Bhell free. Sucessfully ported number over on June 4th to TekTalk and got back from vacation last night to see if everything was working fine (which it was) and disconnected the Bell line and put the whole house on the Voip.

There was still a dial tone on the bell line but if you called a number it would tell you the line was not setup. I suspect if I wanted I could have a 911 phone on a hardline connected to only the incoming line but see no need for my situation.

Just the final Bell billing left to deal with.

In summary, not too bad a process to switch to voip and dump Bell completely. Some hardware costs to switch from DSL to cable and for the voip adapter but with the savings, it will pay for itself soon enough.

It does not seem like there is a plan by Teksavvy to get landline transfers available again as noted by their last response. My advice, evaluate your situation and if you can go with voip, make the switch.

I agree. Voip has so many features and calling options that it makes little sense for me to stick with POTS. I love having voice messages automatically sent to e-mail, and have options that include simultaneous ringing of my home and cell phone. Very cool.

My DECT home phone system connects to the VOIP ATA and also to cellphone via Bluetooth so I feel extremely comfortable with primary VOIP line and with cell as a backup; all accessible from any one of the five DECT handsets sprinkled around the house.

My phone bills are now 15% of the previous expense. Love it.

Well what's the point in Bell ever offering it if they're now capping it. It was their whole idea to resell POTS. Surely they knew if they increased prices only on their retail service people would move to the cheaper equivalent.

I have not read further yet, but can YOU spell ANTI-COMPETITIONAL business practices, Mister Bibic ?

I don't have a solid ETA. As soon as we get an ETA for the last remaining 3 POI's that still have a stop sell I'll be updating. Thanks Taylortbb See Profile for cathing that the info was wrong.

For the stop the phone transfer ETA, no updates.

I think you're thinking of the wrong stop sell.

Well, I'm pulling the plug on Bell. Switching to cable 28/1 (300GB) for the same price per month as I would have if I just switched to dry loop for my current DSL 6/.8 (300GB) without all the headaches of attempting porting numbers at the same time as activating dry loop.

I'll then port my number to Tek Talk and go with the basic pulling my costs for phone from $30 to $10 and cancel Bell all together.

I save money and Bell can go screw themselves!!! As for the hardware and activation costs, they will pay for themselves soon enough.

It's a liberating feeling to be B$ELL FREE !

TRY it - you'll wonder why you waited so long.

I did it and I feel good 12 times per year !

EDIT : Reading along, I see now that you DID give B$ELL da boot.

Major Congrats !
